Thanks for the reply Beyond.. maybe I will do the same road after work one evening and record it (eye POV with the cam) to show where I am looking and what I can correct. I'm sure my nana riding won't cause as much as an uproar

Saying that, apart from a few this argument/debate is quite sedate and readable !

Quite so. I'm sure Paul expected some comment, but I have met him severael times and watching the vid, while he was going quicker than I would, (I'm not that great a rider...), I didn't see anything to alarm me. It's different in the video from actually being in the saddle, he could see better and further than the camera can show you.

Some of the comments were a bit OTT in my humble opinion...

I think these videos are posted more for the 'stroke' value for the poster than for any 'educational' value.

And even he admitts to the odd poor 'moment of reason'.
Blackbird said '' didnt even see you coming'' which is what I was getting at in a previous post. Its not only YOU the rider out there at any given moment, and its the 'any given moment' that can catch you out. Go back to December 06' and a couple of very experienced riders were caught out on a road they knew...real well.
Na sorry, wont/dont buy into that shit. Nobody is invincible on the road...ever!

Dunno about that, I got a fair bit of stroke value out of it too.

Quite frankly, I don't give a shit about what Paul could see. I'm more concerned with the general impression of motorcyclists that has been left on a couple of motorcyclists and quite a few car drivers.

YEah, if they're as good as they were about 15 years ago, the last time I stopped there...

We're planning a trip up North in about a month, the family haven't been through Waipoua and seen Tane Mahuta, so we'll take the bike and the kids can follow in the car. The Son-in-law is from Germany and his brother and wife are here now, too, so the four of them are looking forward to the trip. My local mate, Lemure, wants to get away on their VL1500 too, so with a few others along, should be a good trip.

LOL, red doesn't worry me mate. I post cos I enjoy sharing my experiences and if I get green or red it's no worry.

Be nice to catch up sometime.

And while videos like this continue to be posted in the public forum and other motorcyclists continue to respond with "fuckin cool vid man", motorcyclists will continue to be seen as reckless fuckwits and the government will not have the slightest compunction in treating us exactly as such.

But we are reckless fuckwits unless we get stabilisers.

Be damned if I'm going to change myself into something that could be defined as respectable by the Government.

Not that I could if I wanted to.

Yeah... personally, I've kinda made my peace with that, aye.

Whilst actually trying not to be one, of course.

Y'only live once. I reckon I'll just leave saving the world and fixing the public impression of motorcyclists to someone else, and get on with doing my bit by standing as an electoral candidate for the ALCP.

    Yeah, bring on the cheesecutters.

Yeah, bring on double the ACC levy.

Yeah, bring on a 500cc restriction on the bikes imported into NZ.

    Yeah, you're a winner.
