The deed was done by "darkies" (by which we may infer Polynesians ). He condemns "bloody darkies" as a group for the sins of individuals. We have seen that this is legitimate if the objectionable behaviour is reasonably typical of the group as a whole , and is not denounced by the group. The question therefore is : is such antisocial behaviour typical of Polynesians, and not denounced by them.

So, probably, Mr Devils condemnation is justified. He is saying in effect " I object strongly to the conduct of these people. It is typical of the behaviour of the group to which they belong, and which I will perjoratively denounce". That is rather long winded. "Bloody darkies" says the same thing more concisely. He does not thereby imply or declare that every "darkie" does such things.
`Darkies' is a racist term. It is one of a long list of terms which has been used by whites to lower the value of non-whites to something a little below that of fully paid up members of the human race.

For instance : Members of the Mormon church commonly evangelise by going round and knocking on peoples' doors (No offence Mr Carver, nothing personal and props to them for following their beliefs, just need an example).

Such evangelism is objected to by some people, whose rest is thus disturbed (or who are, perhaps, mid shag) They may legitimately declaim "Bloody Mormons, interrupting people like that". There is a close fit betwen the individual and the group. That is not to imply that EVERY Mormon has knocked on the objector's door, nor to deny that there may be some Mormons who never disturb people. Howver, many Mormons do do so, and the Mormons , as a group, are unlikely to condemn them for it.

Likewise, a traffic cop who has just issued a ticket to a motorcyclist for riding at 200kph whilst sitting on the front mudguard (once again Mr carver, nothing personal) , may declaim "Bloody nmotorcyclists, always speeding". Once again there is a close correlation between the individual and the group. That is not to say that every motorcyclist breaks the law (there may well be motorcyclists who never speed. Well, it's theoretically possible). Just that the behaviour of the individual is typical of the group. Biut most bikers do speed (sometimes , anyway. Except me.). And as a group we are unlikely to condemn or proscribe those who do.

Contrary wise however , there may well be motorcyclists who are Mormons. But it would be wrong for the traffic cop who has stopped one to castigate Mormons as a group for breaches of the road rules (ie to say "Bloody Mormons always speeding"). By and large Mormons are probably no more likely to speed than any other group. Or for the blue-balled complainant to cry "Bloody motorcyclists, knocking on peoples doors ". By and large motorcyclists do not knock on folks' doors.

In the instance that started this thread, the OP was assaulted , by being shot at with a paint ball gun.

I can offer no certain opinion on that. I know Polynesians who would be horrified by such behaviour . But by and large I fear it must be said that antisocial thuggery is not atypical of Polynesian society (male Polynesian society particularly) and does not seem to be strongly deprecated by them .

So, how long have you been Winston Peters' speech writer?

    Anyone?
Im not going to use a dictionary for this but use my own opinion. Both are done by biggots who use that as a way of bullying a person or people. Usually its merely a way to boost their own self esteem as they have little of their own or they have personality issues. People posting on this thread might want to have a look at themselves and do some reflective thinking?

But in saying that, if I had been hit by a paintball gun I would be pissed off too. Ive got another way of dealing with individuals that try that sort of behaviour and I can tell you all that they will not like what happens if they are dumb enough to get close enough to be on the recieving end. The law in NZ is an arse and anyone dumb enough to shoot a paintball gun at a crazy cripple in a wheelchair and then get farked up for doing it will look fairly stupid when it ends up in court and possibly the paper. I don't give a shit if the Poolice charge me, my life was endangered and I will reserve the right to protect myself even if the law states otherwise. While Im at it, the law and the Poolice would look mighty stupid if I was charged in that situation. With violent crimes on the rise in NZ, its time they changed the law so we all have the right to protect ourselves. The crims are now using guns, I would like to have the right to have one also. Ive got a target air pistol so Im a reasonable shot. I just need something that does more damage and that does not have much of a recoil. Oh and I would like another SLR assult rifle, so I can be waiting if I know that they are coming.

While Im at it. This thread has gone well off topic and has been allowed to be turned into the bollocks that it is. Its about a bike being shot with a paintball gun.

After "all of this thread" I can't remember, what was the effect of being hit by the paintball gun:IE mess, pain, sound etc?

How did you clean up your riding gear, or did it actually hit your bike?

Can't be bothered reading all the way back! Curious, John.
