UK helmet - Legal in NZ or not?

I'm shipping out all my bike clothing as well as the bike - well will be as it's still sitting in a warehouse in the UK at the moment waiting for a suitable container heading this way

In it all are my two helmets - a Shoei X-Spirit and a Raid - both to EC22.05.

Anyone know if I'm going to have problems riding in NZ with them. I was stopped in Australia earlier this year because the X-Spirit did not have an Australian standards sticker .

Never seen a cop check the helmets of anyone I've been riding with yet.

ECE 22/05 is legal for NZ, in fact pretty well everything is except for DOT approval (unless helmet is US manufactured/purchased e.g. Simpson)

See here for the facts: http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/road-user-sa...-clothing.html

(Australia has its own standard (AS1698) and they are VERY anal about it, as you discovered!)

We have high standards in the UK so don't see why it should be a problem. I am bringing mine over.

    Yeah, but I don't think the 120 in a 100 zone helped

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

    +1.....
your head, don't worry a about inside labels.
Only thing legal is you have got to wear one
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

Yeah...one of my pet peeves this. The LTSA makes these rules, very specific as to what is allowed then it stops there.
This rule doesn't seem to applied at the border as Customs don't seem to worry about what standards private individuals import and as you pointed out cops never seem to check helmets for safety approval (or even overall safety from what I've seen).
As far as i can tell the only people to whom this rule is applied are commercial importers.
Seem crazy to me that there is not more emphasis placed on safety of helmets seeing as they are such a vital piece of safety equipment.
It would be good if it was done like race scrutineering so that part of the WOF requirement was a gear inspection, not only would that get some dodgy old helmets off the road but it might help reinforce the importance of protective gear.
makes sense to me, after all cages have to have the seat belts/air bags etc inspected/certified for WOF etc.
I know there would still be the dickheads that would borrow their mates helmet for a WOF, but really if you're that stupid you deserve what you get in my book.
