HI All

I know I'm from the UK and your probably thinking what I'm doing registering on a NZ site, the answer is you guys live in biking nirvana and i want some of it please. Coming to your fair islands this december for a good look round prior to (hopefully) emigrating. I ride a 16 year old YZF750r which in my humble opinion still handles better than a lot of new stuff (love undertaking modern stuff through the bends at track days hehe). Your country looks so spectacular with awsome scenery and a fantastic outlook on life with a very cool life style and i cant wait to have a good look round in december

Thanks for the welcome ....my better half have and I have got a month starting in Auckland on the 28th of december and travelling down crossing over to the south island basically all over your fine country dropping into agencies and handing out the odd cv as well as enjoying the beutiful scenery

Welcome to the site.
I'm an ex pat pommie, been living in NZ for the last 10 years and must say it was the best decision I ever made.
I've been riding around on a 50cc for 3 years but as of last Friday have got my learners and moved up to the real thing. Fatz is dead right, there are some great roads over here and you will be visiting in our summer so better again. You'll love the place and the people...the KB crowd are a good bunch as well.

Hey welcome! good idea getting hooked in here- I just joined Dirt Riders International - based in england and scored a riding holiday next northern summer in the Canary Islands
Somebody may correct me later but I believe that your licence will be good for 1 year.

Yep, one year until you have to get an NZ license and if you've had a UK license for more than 2 years you only need to do a theory to get an NZ full.
(For car, not 100% on bikes)

engineer002, we very strongly recommend getting two wheels under you as soon as you can here. As you will see, the roads are utterly epic, so don't sign any long-term contract on some laggy campervan.

Also, be sure to keep KB well informed of your biking/touring progress. Post lots of pictures and stories, and watch Kiwis welcome you into their homes.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome lol i was expecting a "oh dear not another bloody pom" and im afraid my first tour of NZ is via hire car, i know i know not the best way but ive got to start somewhere and if we make the move then the bikes being shipped over with me and then the fun will be begin. But first off its a holiday and a fact finding trip then try and hunt down a job and emigrate, then i will start to explore on two wheels
