Angry Finding inexpensive racing boots to fit large calves

Im having real trouble finding racing boots that I can do up over my calves. Problem is, is that I only have a limited amount of money to spend and, unfortunately I think that may be where my problem lies.
Anyone else had this prob and what did you end up buying or at least which boots have more width around the calves?

Jorgia had a thread up here a while ago about big calves and boots to suit. Will see if I can find it for you, seemed to be heaps of options as I recall.

I had real problems finding boots due to my muscular calves, I ended up with Diadora boots in the end, protection in all the right places and comfy too. Not too bad a price of $200, on sale if I memember rightly. Me finks they do a race boot too, but price will differ me bets!

They only zip up to the ankle, then a velcro fix around the calf

Check out bike shops with racing teams, they change gear frequently. You might get used, but good stuff. Worth an ask...

Diadora have the best fit for large calves, but they're not cheap. The motorbike/tropical fish shop in Morrinsville has them.

Hmm, thanks Im actually having probs getting the velcro to meet together with most boots there's about an inch to go before the ends meet
Do Diadora boots have a bit more strapping round the calf area?

hehe, actually I have been very tempted!!!
However, after spending almost 4 months in plaster/moon boot after crashing at Ruapuna I figure I should probably get the right stuff that fits properly, blah blah. Soooo very tempted though!!

Yeah I had exactly that with most I tried, got so farked off I was going to buy a pair of ankle boots instead, but Mr Bablefish managed to talk some sense into me.

Mine meet....only just though, they have softened a little and now I can get just over halfway on the velcro. No extra strapping on mine, but tis not a race boot.

The Diadora race boot does have those clippie thingies me finks.

Find a "friend" your size, but NOT same race class ... and "borrow" them when your racing...
Plan B... Find someone your size and offer to pay half the price of a new pair for them, if you get their OLD pair. Make sure the old pair is OK first though...
