Jafa uses a set of very subtle head-signals to communicate with his pillion. I think shaking his head means hold on or stop moving around? One of those.

Motorway will be steady 100-109km/h. No higher.

Twisties will be cruisy - no insurance means I'll be enjoying the Coro, not thrashing.

I'll happily take either point or TEC - depends which you want.

Couple of questions from another n00b!

    1) Would this be a good trip to destroy my ride-virginity on? I'm not a particularly flash rider or anything, still on Learners (although I should probably put a plate back on, but how else can I go on the motorway to/from work )
    2) How many k's is it in total? (I suck at gaugeing fuel, I normally panic when I do more than 100km in one go)

[Also I took the liberty of checking the weather forecast:

Metservice - Increasing cloudy periods, freshening northwesterlies
Predict Weather (Ken Ring >.>) - Fine and sunny then periodic showers]

If everyone is worried about time and weather... can I make a suggestion (although I am new and feel free to tell me to shut the hell up since i don't know what the normal deal is) but why don't we leave earlier, ie leaving at 9 at the latest (or earlier, but i have a feeling that wil be smacked down, and hard)... if showers are meant to increase later in the day?

    Sounds logical enough to me.
If you assume that smc members are capable of awaking at such an hour.

Well am I able to assume that they do possess that capability, or is that too far reaching?
Who has the final say and gives the confirmed time?

    1. If you ride in the slow group which it looks like I'll be leading, I can assure you that it will be okay. We'll look after you - my own first country ride was a not-so-slow Coro loop - and we'll be setting a learner-friendly pace, since we have a number on the ride (Yui, Zim etc).

Full Coro is around 600? We're only doing a half Coro, but don't worry - your GN will easily get you from gas station to gas station and then a bit.

That is what I was thinking myself - I figured it'd be decided at the Friday Chiller though.

Leaving 8-9am would be my own personal preference. Avoid too much traffic (as it is the school holidays).

Friday Chiller starts around 4pm at Strata, the post-graduate bar which can be found on the top floor of the Kate Edgar building.

I will post any changes to our ETD and itinerary on the Friday night, so you can either check late Friday or early Saturday for any amendments to the plan.

yeh i dont mind an earlier start at all. I know some people live in south auckland to save them riding up to UoA and then back south maybe have a first group meet at UoA @ around 8.15/8.30 and then meet the rest at that autobahn cafe along the southern motorway with the big bp :O?!!

I'd been keen to get away before 9, beat the traffic and more time for drinking in the afternoon..

Hey by the way, anyone who came on the ride to Piha last weekend.. does anyone know if the guy who was on the black hornet, whether his bike is ok and he got back sweet, since he didn't come with us on the last leg? Sorry don't know his name. BUt he was asking for tools then didn't keep coming, so just thought should check (although probably a little late for doing it)
