I understand it Danger. Its just the Dunlop I have on is bloody aweful! Even at woodhill it doesn't feel right? unless I have the presure so low I can sometimes feel the roots hitting the rim. Put a bit of moisture in front of it and it has no grip whatsoever. I could try a Scorpion extra on the front, anything would be better I think?
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

I might come this weekend depends on money and work. I want to try the GNCC the next weekend, but I've never raced MX and I'm still deciding if i'll not be fast enough to get in the way of the fast guys. When I raced karts the newbies always got in the way on the last lap when you where trying to win the damn meeting??

I have an S12 on my sons bike with a MT320 on the rear and I like it. But Danger is saying maybe an S12 might not be such a good option over summer? I do quite a reasonable amount of riding at the moment so he might be correct. I need to ride and ride to bring my skills up so if i do Ardmore most Wednesdays (now it starts at 4pm its easier for me) and all the X-country rides are dryish his advice may well be bang on, as usual!

After that it was almost poked. The knobs facing forwards were worn a fair bit more than expected (well rounded) and to top it off I had to gingerly ride back to my truck with a flattie at the end of the day. Crappo.

Has anyone had experience with the 'v' brand. They are $100 round here, but Ive heard mixed comments about them.

Was running a Pirelli scorpion, seemed to be a good tyre, but the compund was too soft for around here (Karipoti).

    Thinking about a metzler mc-5 or 6.

    Whats your rubber?

Camp Leader had an M201 on todays ride. Looked the goods but he kept washing out the front end. I told him that those tires were no good ha ha, but I'm sure it was just him being a spode.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

You'll be sweet Rick, the rookies, clubman and senior woman all race together so theres no real guns that you will get in the way of and beacause its a staggered start you'll find the traffic is quite spread out and you spend most of the race on your own just racing the clock.

haha!! is that supposed to be encouraging telling me I can be beaten by a girl on the day??? LOL!!

I suppose I'm judging it on my past racing experience and the karting scene is pretty full on!

stuff it in for a penny in for a pound!! You don't need a race licence for this one do you!

I did the GNCC a few years ago, it was brilliant - especially for riding terrain other than Woodhill & Riverhead!! As has been said, faster traffic wasn't a problem. It is set up to encourage people of lesser experience. Go for it!

One of the drawbacks of moving to the mainland is that there is no GNCC-style series.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Nah no license required, and yeah it sort of sucks when you get caught and passed by a girl, so i've been told

Going to woodhill on Sunday to try and put a few laps in as a bit of prep.

I'm there for the next round. I'm just not keen on racing 3 days before a holiday and work trip to Oz.

I got passed a couple of times by Catherine Prumm at a Wednesday Ardmore practice one day. But I consider that's a bit of an honour.

you may find that the m202 might not last too well in the hard pack, the 402 is a beter tyre for hard but also gives good in the softer stuff 2. m201 is a good front tyre tho.
