Let's get a biker perspective on this.

What is your opinion in moving/touching others motorcycles in cases where you deem that they are infringing on the rights of other motorcyclists or people. Would you like it if it happened to you...just wondering. I'm not trolling, just inquisitive. Take this thread below as an example.

Well on one hand I wouldn't like it, but then on the other hand I wouldn't park in an inconsiderate manner like that - especially if I knew it was an issue and had been advised of this previously as it appears that person had.

Besides....it would take a shit load of people to move my bike at 275Kg, lol

Dont touch nor rarely ride other peoples bikes, women however i am open to suggestionsIf i left my bike in such a place as to obstruct another persons movements (which i wouldnt) then if it was moved then it deserved to be.I have a very annoying scratch on my tank, quite large to from some retard climbing on it pissed with his own bike keys in hand at a rally,as i say very annoying.

    It is all about respect.

If you don't show respect for other people, then you shouldn't expect to receive any in return.

Hmm indeed...I'm not bagging on the smc, the thread is just timely with the discussion haha, they had consulted with this person prior to taking action. But should an action have been taken against the bike or should action have been taken with the governing body for the carpark.

People always complain that governing bodies don't care or don't listen, so when does it become a case of self governing. I'm thinking bout this too hard, I should go back to studying flow induced vibrations and aerodynamics.

Yeah, touching/sitting on etc other peoples bikes that are parked legally/considerately is a definite no-no, for just the reasons you've outlined. However, my understanding of the above situation is that they deserved what they got and in fact were probably lucky as it saved the bike getting towed, so the owner probably should be grateful (assuming no damage was caused and it was moved with care - as it appears it was)

I think its wrong to touch someones bike without asking them first.

Afterall if you see a car parked in a handicaped space or in a place it shouldnt be what would you do?

but what if you parked it badly, using up two spaces, or part of a footpath and left it there knowing it was an obstruction, if someone told you and you did it again, would you consider that would give them the right to touch or handle your property. I don't see how it does but most people do agree with that sentiment it seems.

Yep I do this quite often too because I suck at parking. Just ask anyone who knows me.

I would be really surprised and maybe a bit irritated if someone moved my bike, unless they were experienced with heavy bikes and had a good reason, in which case I wouldn't mind at all.

If someone with zero experience moved my bike for any reason and then proceeded to drop it I would be exceedingly tempted to clout them.

If a large and expensive-looking motorcyle HAD to be moved for some logistical reason, I would volunteer to do it - my bike is damn heavy and I have a very good idea on what is feasible and what is not. Some bikes with locked steering can't easily be moved without stand-pivoting, and I would probably not attempt that.

I would not move a bike for legislative reasons, unless I knew the person well and I was about to save them a lot of money in fines.
