    It doesn't sound like far, but its a 400km round trip from Tauranga.. or 540kms and six hours if you go right to gisborne. (wises says six hours forty mins.)

    3 Hours each way between Tauranga and Gisborne is done on a regular basis by a number of people.
    Just on 300 Km from my place (Tauranga) to my parents place (Gisborne).
    Waioeka Gorge is a great ride.
    Hope you get a nice day - last time I did it was torrential rain, still a good ride though.
