Mrs Bond will be along shortly to concur. Or not.

    A snot-snuffling snort or two?
    Do tell...
I think you imply correctly - there is no appropriate way to laugh in the lib...

Usually desperate attempts to contain the guffaws result in a good impression of choking.

Just don't attract THE librarian's attentions. She has the power to fine...

What a KB thread that'd be - "I was fined for laffing in the lib by the revenue-gathering librarian. I demamded proof, and now I'm taking it international"

Yep - have been out on SCOPE with the Police. Detained persons seem to lack the ability to remain silent, preferring to dig the hole deeper, and deeper...

Including loud cellphone conversations bemoaning the lack of fairness of it all.

I wish this blardy research trail was that simple. At least it's the very last piece of written work of my degree.

*Sigh* (only a small and library-appropriate one though!)

YouTube is so reputed for its unintelligent discussions that a software developer has created a Firefox extension, dubbed YouTube Comment Snob, which simply filters out undesirable comments on the site by searching for poor selling, bad language, excessive punctuation and capitalisation and comments with all capital letters."

A frisson of joy momentarily engulfed me.

Ah damn it doesn't automatically filter poor spelling, only poor selling.

Nooooo......but you are probably the only one innocent enough to say so....

Incidentally, "doesn't" has an apostrophe in it.

^^^Ah yes, I love our lively discombobulated bastard of a language, begat by sundry cheeky neighbours clambering into her mother's bed.

Like all the best mistresses, a real bitch to live with on occasion, yet we're inextricably intertwined into her fate – most of us through geographical accident of birth…

(However, some extant mutations are best surgically excised for the greater benefit of the whole - all praise to the BDOTGNZA creed of lexiphane warrior - cutting a broad swathe of linguistic purity through cyberspace!)

And now a short intermission to allow patrons to refresh their dictionaries and grammars.......

Highly recommended reading is "The Mother Tongue" by Bill Bryson which details the history and epistemology of our wonderfully obtuse and lyrical language.
