    C*ntarse!

    Fuggin' Qantas!
I'm stuck in Sydney on my way home from work the Timor Sea. I'm desperate to get home so I can make it to the test day at Manfeild tomorrow and after catching the 12:30am redeye from Darwin last night I was due to fly to Wellywood at 9:30am. It's now 12:45pm and 4 "...due to engineering problems..." calls the fuggin' thing is still in the hangar.

I am not alone as another flight is experiencing similar problems.

If you can fly any other airline: DOOOO EEEET!

I don't know whether to be relieved they are finding these problems or pissed off they are happening in the first place.

As you were........"BARMAN! Another rum and coke if you please...."

    Bullshit.
(I have to say that, as the vifferbabe works for them. But in any case, I've never had problems with them).
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

I once sat in a full plane, on the runway , in Sydney .. for 4 hours before the Qantus flight finally took off to fly to Auckland. Because of mechanical problems.

We were told now that as we were all on board it was too "difficult" to take us off and have us processed again so we had to stay put till problem was fixed.

They wouldn't feed us, as the trolleys are not allowed to be in the aisles when plane is on the ground, safety reasons in case we all have to evacuate.
(if only we had been that lucky)

So about once an hour they threw a biscuit and some water at us.
All up we were on that plane for 7 1/2 hours, with one tiny meal served when we finally took off.

Be glad you are still in the terminal.

I know exactly what you are going through.

I'm currently in the process of writing Qantas a complaint letter after my wife and I traveled with them to Vietnam (long story, wasnt a Qantas plane) and thier customer service was incredibly bad, along with delays, and lost baggage.
I travel alot, and wouldnt choose to use them again.
It's not that I'm wrong- It's your too dumb to understand!!!

Sounds like my sister-in-law: when she flew over her from Sydney a couple of weeks ago, they sat in the plane for 2 and a half hours on the runway before it took off. I think maybe it's an Aussie thing. I've done dozens and dozens fo flights across the Tasman, and across Orstrylyer, and so many times someone there was on strike: the baggage handlers, ground staff, engineers, flight crew, etc etc. And the last time we flew out of Sydney, it took more than twice as long to check in as it does in Auckland. When we finally got to the check-in desk, we had to then take all our bags to the counter for overweight bags / fragile goods. Guess what? it was unmanned, with a sign saying they'd be back in 90 minutes! So, we go back to the supervisor, and ask him what the story was.
"Ah, yah - eet's coz of the changeover of sheefts."
"So - what can we do about it? We need to check our bags in!"
"Ah.. notheeng. That's just how eet works."
That's just fukt! How hard would it be to make sure the shifts overlap, so the desk isn't unmanned?!?
Of course my sister-in-law couldn't understand us saying how crap Aussie check-in was, until she experienced for herself how slow it was in comparison to at this end. Even worse than Heathrow...

Best international flight ever: Melbourne to Chch, in the late '90s. I was in the taxi 7 minutes after the plane's doors opened. The worst ever was about that time too: Chch-Sydney-LA-Salt Lake City-Twin Falls Idaho. Some 27 hours of travelling. But our bags took longer than that...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

I would have to agree with that. I flew from Chch-melbourne-dubai-saudi and they were excellent!! Have flown with ANZ and I have to say they are shit compared to Emirates. Emirates can't do enough for you!!

Ask travel agents about all the airlines, but ANZ was the first to cut commission from 10% to 5%,to zilch,so much so it is cheaper for dad(was owner of travel firm,35yrs in the bussiness)to buy over the net than go through his work.
