    Driftn's last race on J-LO

Well what a season it has been aye.

First up would like to thank the vic club for running such an awesome series. Keep it up and see you next year for sure.

Right on the road nice and early as usual and arrive to the track a little before 8.
Get signed in and ready for a great day of fun filled racing.

My first goal was to qualify with a 1.15 and second goal was to put Dodgy Matt back in his place. Went out for qualifying and the bike felt great as did the track, Heaps of grip out there. Put in a couple of hard laps and was feeling pretty good.
Didn’t feel like a 15 but as it turned out it was a new PB with a 1.14.9.
I was rapt with that and to make things better I was 18th and dirty ol Dodgy Matt was 19th . Things were looking good.

    Race one.
Got an average start and lost a few places, Not to worry as I love the big long right hander in to splash and went round the out side of 4 or 5 people. Ran a good clean race only got past by one person after that (John Oliver) I had a tussle with him for a lap or so and made a move up the inside going in to the sweeper but he slamed the door on me and I ran a bit wide. SHIT. he made a small gap and was having a battle with Greg Precival on the R6 and got held up. I was making ground on them both.
Got the white flag and saw red put my head down and arse up and chased them as hard as I could making ground on every turn. Going in to the sweeper I knew I was faster than them both so went in brave and tried to use the horse power of the mighty J-lo down the front straight. Unfortunatly the start finish line is about 20 meters to close to the exit of the final turn. He just piped me at the line by 0.105. Finished 15 my best ever finish to date.

NEW PB 1.14.057 YAHOOO and Dodgy matt no where to be seen.

    Race Two.
Another crap start lost heaps of spots but in good form for my fav corner round the outside of dodgy and tried to get Mark Bennett as well but he just turned in on me and blocked through splash. I followed him down the middle straight and tried to out break him but could pull it off. Chased him down the back straight and through the sweeper drag race down the front straight. Went very brave in to turn one and pulled it off. Kept my head down and pulled away. Had Phil Endean on the CBR6 in my sights and making ground every lap. White flag and think better get my skates on.
Make ground on him through every turn. Come out of the hair pin and start reeling him in. Not thinking what I was doing I just kept grabbing gears, Normaly im at red line in 5th down there but I knocked it in to top and kept going. Over shot my breaking marker and puckerd my arse up. As it turns out I have been going in to Higgins way to soft. Caught up down the back straight Had heaps more speed through the sweeper and another drag to the line. Again to short this time by 0.257. Another lap Toast and you would be just that. When pulled in every body was there to congratulate me on a good ride. Didn’t feel as fast the first race but when the times came out I was 13th with a 1.13.920 F@#K YEAH. Not bad for a near on 13 year old bike with 80 or 90 hp. Dodgy Matt 17seconds behind. Mission accomplished.

    Now come the thankyous.

Deano my team mate you’re a legend mate massive respect to you for all your help with the bike getting it ready and storing it so I couldn’t ride it on the road. Jimmy for the talk at round 5, That really helped heaps thanks bro.
Drew for just being you, Your awesome mate. And all the people in the garage this season. The company makes it all worth it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I just started typing and didn’t think it would be this long.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story, eh! Mylaps says I was pulling away on laps 6-9, but you sure owned me on the final one!

I didn't have another lap in me so was stoked it finished when it did.

Very impressed that you hit 1:13.x on that old beast of yours. Awesome! Keep it up and catch you on the track again I hope

Its prob got a touch more than 80 or 90 hp but I play it down a bit . Bike will be on trademe in the next few days. If drew has got 4g he can have it.

The big discussions were as to which Mair would have the most crashes. Drew won that by a country mile. I have yet to bin on the track. Touch wood.

Looking for a GSXR6 or some thing simalar. Going to do F2 next year in the winter series and try do the 2010 nationals if I can get some big sponsors.
