Sorry but both cop and biker are fucken stupid.Firstly the guy on the bike you idiot dont run red lights you will most probally die when a car KO's from the side, stupid. And the cop where did you learn to drive? yes you have a loud annoying siren but you need to look both ways before jumping that red traffic light, people need time to react and see that you have just turned the siren on, come on where's your head at copper, now can the copper and the bike both be charged for stupidity? for the biker i hope they didn't get your rego. Sorry for the innocent lady in the crossfire.

    Hard to argue with that!

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

Sirens and flashing lights are like indicators - they magically clear the way for where you want to go.

If an ambo goes through a red with lights and noise go'n (speed limit 20km/h) and has a crash they can still be held liable, its not legal to do so but we have a defence in the law! wonder if cops are the same.

Mufti cars are hard to make out the red-and-blues at the best of times. Unless you're infront or behind them how can you tell?

That is a hell of a lot of damage and from the way the story reads there must have been a bit of speed.

Generally speaking I respect the cops... but mostly the general duties cops. The traffic units seem to be a law unto themselves. I've seem some apalling driving by the coppers and some insane pursuit speeds im sure they not meant to be doing... my guess is they radio in saying "we've abandon pursuit" just incase the car they're after wipes out.

Naughty biker but to be fair everyone in Wellington pushes the orange to the point it's gone red while they're mid-intersection. It's so bad I wait a second or two after the light goes green when on the bike just incase.

Always a good policy to look right and left before proceeding from stationary too...

    Police Crash 21-10

    http://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/2...lice-car-crash

A woman is in hospital after an unmarked police car collided with her vehicle during a high-speed pursuit.

Inspector Gary Knowles said the police car was following a moped at speed west along Armagh Street in Christchurch, when he turned his siren on and entered the Durham Street North intersection.

"He has then struck a member of the public driving an SUV (sports utility vehicle)," Mr Knowles said.

"The SUV has rolled and ended up crashing through a business premises window. The 40-year-old female driver has been taken to Christchurch Hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening and she is currently being interviewed by a member of the police."

The officer driving the unmarked car had returned to the station where he was being interviewed.

At this stage police were speaking with a number of witnesses at the scene to establish exactly what has taken place, Mr Knowles said.

A specialist crash team were currently coordinating the scene investigation, and a non-commissioned officer had been assigned to coordinate an Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) investigation.
Must be one fast moped, being a high speed pursit

According to eye witness reports they turned their sirens on an instant before flying through the intersection. The driver of the SUV had no chance to respond.

Worth potentially killing someone for a $150 fine, was it, arsehole?

The police car must have been going pretty quick to have the impact cause a four wheel drive to roll over.

Going by your logic in the other thread the driver of the cop car would have to be the "type" of dumb shit born to cause an accident at an intersection and is better of crashed then on the road where they can harm more people.

I'd assume you have already put pen to paper and advised your superiors of your position.
