I don't know what that rear tyre is.
Thats my 1984 TT600 with the stiffest YZ490 springs I could get. See how the back wheel bounced around everywhere? The front did the same. My suspension knowledge was a bit limited in those days. Just put the stiffest springs I could find in that thing. The year was 1984 and it was the second TT600 sold in the country. Actually had done the Riverhead enduro on it the weekend before in the pouring rain. Fun bike but heavy at about 123kg. During the week I would sometimes ride it on the road to Whangarei at about 150km/hr to see a girl. The rear tyre used to smoke up on the asphalt around corners and nothing could beat it for acceleration and power slides in those days. Thought I was invincible on that thing until an old lady drove in front of me and I went over the roof of her car. Bought a YZ250 after that to keep me off the roads.
The red hand guard just in shot behind the bike is on a bike ridden by Reece Jones, who I met up with again out at the sandpit last week. Old time friend now riding an ex Dave Leary CRF450.
IT250, awesome fun back then. My best mate had the IT490. We both went on to race YZ250's and YZ490's respectively. Always thought that he would have been a better rider on a YZ250 as well.
