Was listening to a tech media commentator the other day and he was commenting (funnily enough) that the smaller players have always been better for performance in NZ but he thinks this will start to change about now with the investment the bigger players can make with the whole unbundling saga........ interesting times.

Jrandom is right... Orcon have it. Check for availability in your area by going to this address: http://www.orcon.net.nz/orconathome/
(ironically, you'll still need a phone number). It will tell you whether you are in an area with a new exchange or an old.

Unbundling... where should I start. its a joke for the last 4 years. (I have the inside line) And Telecom has turned it into a game of you peeps can pay for my stinky poo while I go and spend your money to beat you at the game. And also turning it into a game of have and have nots. So you want a company who musles their compition around? Well wait till they do that to you.
Telecom brain wash their employees. and Vodafone is a joke for customer service and providing what the customer really wants.
newbie since August 2004....
VTR250 (retired) / SV650S (Fw:Keystone19) / GSXR750(given up) / CB400(traded for 919) / CB900 Hornet / CBR954 (traded) / CBR1100XX (sold) / TuonoR (sold) / CB900 Hornet / NC700X / MTS1200 / XR250
As terrible as this sounds, Telecom has actually picked up its game over the last couple of years, and isn't as bad as it was (am I defending Telecom?).
Ironically, the unbundling is actually providing more complications and less freedom than before. Yes, there are more options, however, your choice in the matter is more restricted.

Doesnie matter how fast your upload/download is...as soon as you try getting data packets off this island it all turns to chocolate.
Sick of vodafone telling me I'm in an excellent coverage area when the reality is a 50/50 chance of getting cut off due to signal fade.
