    Talking Noob to biking (Vinn)

Gidday peoples, Names Vin, and im a complete newb to the world of biking, i was cruising past Honda Otago after work the other day, and spied a Honda CBR125R, and fell in love with it, looks sweet!

Long story short, i need my bike license!

now i've played around on trail bikes etc, and at easter jumped on a family friends yamaha 500 something, (scared the shit outa me to start with) but soon loved it, a great rush!

I have read all i can about the CBR125R, and sounds stunning, and sounds as the the performance practically matches most low budget 250's such as the gn250. But seeing as im learning on the road is this abit extreme? the way i look at it, by the time my full license comes around, ill be sick of ANY bike 250cc or less, as it just isnt that big! so, a honda, well maintained, etc etc, is gona have a sweet resale value, and isnt going to corrode like GN250's, it also looks sweet.

yes i know im going to come off! who doesnt atleast once in there life ae? hopefully once is enough, and you learn your lesson! and if its someone else's fault hunt em down and make em pay! so im not OVERLY worried when the day comes that i hurt my ever so sweet looking fairings.

I only stand around 5'9" or 5'10" ish (cant remember) and last i weighed in was only around 75 kg's or so...

sorry for the loooong post, but any feed back would be killer.!

p.s loving this site since i joined up, alot of helpful ladies and gents puttin ur knowledge out there for us new people to pick over and ponder, a big thanks to you all in advance.

Hey Gn's are awesome! The corrosion factor can be easily be overcome by not caring and the way they bump around corners....
oh wait, maybe that was just the shot suspension. Either way, Gn's are fun

I couldn't say anything about the CBR's but I wouldn't worry about being too little for a 125, you'll be onto a bigger bike soon and if you do drop it at least it'll be light enough to pick up without having to ask your flatmate to come help :/

Haha, yeah , sorry Gn's arent that bad, good for learning I just dont like em is all, lol. what can i say, im picky, even tho im sure they are far more comfy over a longer ride, but yeah the CBR is super light, bonus for when i drop it lol or have to do that kinda staggerin leg hop to hold it if it tries to sneak away lol.

they just look soo nice, and have only heard glowing reports on em!
and from what ive seen and read, alot of 250 cc bikes have probly been rung past there used by date for repeatable reliability AND they sell for practically as much as the 400 i would migrate to on my full...

my mate just bought a scorpio z, looks good, i have a feeling that the cbr wouldnt have to much trouble keeping up with that tho, from what ive read.

    cheers,
    Vin

    Talking Welcome

I use a RG 150 to commute to and from work and am about your size and love that. It has just a bit more go than a 125 and is allot of fun to ride. So much so I decided to race it and had a blast.

Welcome to the site, you will make some fanTAZtic friends on here, I have and it's made my ride outs and social events awesome.

hey cheers mate i can already tell im gona meet some 1st class people here, yeah, the 150 would move a lil more, although, from a review on this site, the 125R moves aswell if not better than the FXR150 lol .. bt that i assume, is down to honda quality...

i have heard to many 2 stroke fanatics putting down the cbr125r lol ... bt i cant stand the high-balls pre-pubescent screetch they make nor the rebuilding/oiling costs lol! (no offense 2 stroke lovers!! jst my .02)
from the sounds of it, id learn alot about the right gear shifting and handling, mostly the ever daunting cornering for new riders haha

Welcome Vin,Thought about a dual purpose bike ? Ride around town and hit the dirt or gravel roads on the weekend. I had a DR250, good to learn on, upright seating position which is great in the traffic around town and fun on the weekends on the back road's, can't go wrong. Bloody cheap to run to. Have fun and safe riding mate.
