+1 to Hitcher for actually getting the american system.
President is head of the military. Senate and House or representatives make the rules.
All simplified way to put it of course.
As an American, good on Obama. I didn't vote.
As an American.. I have to say I also don't give a toss. (same for the NZ elections)

I hope to what ever is up there, that Obama isnt shot........fuck yeah he is a politician, but America and the rest of the world were sick of Bush, and have all sung the song of BRING IT ON for a new president.....for years over there, people have wandered around not liking the fact that the rest of the world hadn't got a good thought of them...........
I do truly believe in this guy Obama, and genuinely that with a huge force behing him (most of which is good and want to change), that the possibilities for peace in the world is huge.
Hope is good Hitcher, and lets all hope that Obydude, can take the USA into a new era of hope faith and happiness, for sure the country needs it.
If there was one place to be at this very timefor a fucking big party then America is it today, I am stuck to the telly watching the hysterics of the American people, there's tears and you can feel the enthusian seeping through the tv.............
Man of Man this is something special that has happened in the world today, I really do believe it.
And, as I have said before boy the guys fit as a butchers dog.....meow........ha ha shallow to the end.
Rock on Democracy.........
And Obama, if you ever get to read this, I have just come back from the pub and had afor you, and five mates and I raised our glasses to you.....
Again boogy woogy woogy, go Amercia, and by fuck I never thought I would say that.......
"I'm gunna hug ya, and squeeze ya, and call ya George!" "Spread the smile and watch it come back at cha" x
Thank you to those who came to the Garstonian Rally 2009, heads up for the 2010 Rally.......
and he gets to fly around in fis own company 747 .............kewl!
I sincerely hope he fulfills the promise that people see in him but all to often these politicians arrive with a fanfare and an entourage of the the hopeful only to become just another caretaker/manager, or worse still just another warmonger, nothing radically good ever seems to happen.
I wish him well and I wish him safe and may he lead the merkins in a direction other than conflict and V twins![]()
Oh bugger

I'm in agreement with Hitcher's sentiments; Mr Obama seems like an excellent chap, but one can only hope that the American electorate does not become unreasonable and expect him to work miracles.
You could argue that he's being handed the most difficult situation that any incoming Murkn president's had to handle in the last four decades. Much of his first-term 'performance' will, I suspect, be dictated by factors out of his control.
Anyhow. Good luck to him!

Denmark (I think it was) used to (and may still) have an underground sweepstake where people would make a list of those who they thought would die during the next 12 months. The deceased needed to be well known enough for their death to be reported in a few national newspapers. Huge money could be won on this somewhat bizarre lottery.
I suspect Mr Obama has just become one of their favourites.
For the record - I'm rapt to see him win.
Mind you, it was a rather foregone conclusion - John McCann appeared to be a caricature of himself and Sarah Palin just appeared to be retarded (albeit in a pretty way).

One of my favourite internet people says that Palin sucked as Alaskan Gubnor, too. With any luck she'll get kicked out of that job as well and will have to go back to cooking eggs full time.

I liked the old ones. That Lump song was pretty cool.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I'm sure she'd be happy to add you to her list

Well Obama is the start of change and hope and the future needs to be beyond 4 years...change is always hard so I don't think we should expect miracles from Obama but the fact that he has become the first black President in a Country largely racist, is a miracle of hope for the future.
