Went for a quick hoon over the maungatap this afty, has someone been in there and dug big holes all over the place or something recently?? . Found a cool river crossing on Pelorous side steep into a creek then straight up out of the creek, good fun. Will get a new front tyre this week , too many scary moments.

They've been working on the 1st pylon track this week.

    It is a good crossing.
You need good tyres, momentum and revs to get back up that slope
Someone to help push is good too.

    Golden Bay

    Okay tosspots

    I need some advice

are there any good rides in Golden Bay.

On Ryans site there is Dry Rd/Crown Rd and Aorere goldfields track - are they any good?

Any other rides over there worth investigating??

Well if your gonna be like that I wont tell you about the Cobb Dam Rd, Bird Rd or Totaranui Rd

I'll see if I can get some time to put some more on over the weekend. The pressure is mounting for me to do some more on the web site. If nothing else I try and create some KML files. Dry Rd is a good gravel Rd with a river crossing (dont have to do and it is about 3/4 of the way south) and some awesome scenery but it is an in and out ride. Aorere is a rutted dirt track that is not so scenic but much more challenging.

    Cheers R

Try birds clearing-all gravel but great view or Parapara lookout-a slipery when wet sidetrack with a great view. Also you can't go past the regular rides down to big river on the west coast (past Anatori) or into the cobb valley. if you want a guide/company over that way theres plenty of crazy locals that don't need much encouragement (PM me).
