Nice spot, where abouts is it?
From the Clutha, head over the Lindis pass into the McKenzie country - just after the pass itself and before you hang a right for the long straights into Omarama, hang a left into Birchwood - there's a DOC info and cattle stop and some fairly plain vanilla gravel road for a good 20K or more - nice big hut, chalets and other stuff - fisherman friendly - saw some nice trout but they'd be damned hard to get without explosives.

Added a map - says it better!

I understand from about 2/3rds up the Ahuriri one can go west into the Hunter and from there down to Hawea - not a R80 trip tho.

The bigger bikes that went on the nevis run last year was a xr650, bmw1150 and a xtx660, the river was up a bit and it made for interesting viewing for us on trail bikes.
Will keep all informed of the TT runs for this year, first one is 13th September and it is going to Konkonga, my suggested route is straight over the dunstan and thru Patearoa, should be good
furk,i'd be keen for this one

    Skippers > Branches

Anyone fancy a week day trip into Branches (Coronet Peak Road > Skippers > Branches -about 60K gravel/dirt road return)?

Leisurely trip - check it out, photos, lunch etc etc - fine weather only - nearest petrol from saddle, Gorge Road Queenstown - about 20K.

    PM me.

I'd be keen depending on what day of the week you have in mind ?
You can never get sick of that road.

Did you do the Branches ride? I was in there over labour weekend, stayed in the old hut, pics attached... binned the KLR coming out of a creek, feet off pegs , trying to keep them dry, crossed up in the ruts and crash, bang, tinkle!

Are you going to the Danseys Pass rally on December 18th? I could come down your way and hook up at Beaumont or something and we could make a ride of it... Hope fully this snow will be gone by then....
