Thread: Contemplation.

Check up on Carver in 30 years.....you can shake your (walking) stick at him then.We didn't have the internet when I was young and shallow...and disrespect and contempt for our elders was a badge of honour. The very wise of the motorcycling community taught me riding skills on many levels, and never once told me what I obviously was - and they have earned my immense respect.

Mad's got all contemplative tonight after the funeral of a friend.

    As we do.

    I'm not judging him.

The complete opposite of Carver who enjoys poking conventional thinking in the eye. He's pretty much all bullshit and bluster.

Fill your boots Carver, it's just the internet and all the crap that goes with it. No one really cares what you think or do. Maybe you live at home with your mother and don't have a GF, who cares, I don't.

So here' my two bobs-worth. (google it mate)....

There are the riders who park their bikes, begin to walk away and then stop. They turn and look back. They see something when they look at their bikes that you might not. Something more complex, something that is almost secret, sensed rather than known. They see their passion. They see a part of themselves

That's been my favourtie quote for some time. A bit mushy but I like it.

Fight the establishment people, disobey the man..live your own life...burn the bra! I'm all for getting rid of bras.

    p/t

I reckon carver will come right in time, youth of today are hot headed, quick to act stupid and slow to act like a sane human being. I know, I'm one of them. I think with carver the problem isn't his uphimself over the top attitude *which I have heard is not his persona in real life which is more akin to shy and retiring until a certain sidekick turns up*, but his choice of applying his attitude to a hobby that requires maturity, clarity of thought and responsibility for ones actions realising they will affect not only themselves but others.

Unfortunately and sadly this maturity and repsonsibility is not found in sufficient quantity in a lot of motorcyclists *myself included, I've dnoe some silly things on bikes and 100m down the road gone "that was stupid" and is learnt the hard way in some cases; in carvers case it could be leading in that direction.

The more you moan about carver online the more he will stir and act the fool, ignore him, and hopefully he will fade into the background like in reality and find the maturity he requires; fingers crossed no one, himself included os hurt in the process.

There was a statement above that said we dislike things about others that we see in ourselves as well - there could be truth to that. But more as well, there can be depth of thought (sometimes?).

Anyhow, I'm not sitting in a wallow of self pity, I'm actually about to see if I can find some glof lessons. Apparently you can offroading in glof carts, and now that there is horsepower and anti-social misuse, I think I'm starting to take an interest...

I took up riding at a ripe age of 31 (yes I know that's old) however I'm a huge nana rider and people that have ridden with me knows this. We have "carvers" back home and my parents and friends see their antics and assume that all motorcyclists are like that. So its people like Carver that I keep getting the lectures about safety on a bike from anyone I talk to back home. It could be easy to just ignore which I have done so many times but when you lose a few friends that were doing nothing but just enjoying their ride (they have been on their bike for quite a few years not noobs either) and then you see the mormon few doing tricks etc you just wonder where the justification is.

I know that anyone can make mistakes and it could happen to any skilled rider, however I just don't understand why these types of riders are tempting fate and mostly get a way with it.

Motorcycling is not a way of life, it is a pastime, hobby what ever you want to call it...an extension of our life...yes there is a difference between riding a motorbike and playing golf...yes I park my bike, walk away and look back...like when I kayak to Rangitoto and look back...and have a big smile wider than a prostitutes legs...(no idea why that came out) but no disrespect to Nasty..who I have met and is a wonderful person, dying what I enjoy most is not whilst riding my bike because I enjoy spending time with Natalie most...if that makes sense.

Take Maha's rides, it is not just motorbikes that brings the guys and gals together...it is a common interest but what brings them together is that they enjoy eachother's company....yes being a motorcylist is special I agree...when younger I did a lot of climbing and mountaineering...the best bit was the camp when you would get your Trangia going, put the kettle on, chat crap to your mates and talk about the climb...just like motorcycling.

    Carver...only met you once...

Madbikeboy...I understand your sentiments and enjoyed meeting you and Katman the other weekend...just don't get too judgemental please...I suspect that few look upto Carver and his antics.

    God Bless Motorcyclists

I tend to believe that it comes down to one of two things: whether you scare yourself enough to stop doing what you're doing, or whether it kills you first. Being irresponsible or dangerous normally catches up and bites you in the arse, eventually.

Who cares madbikeboy???...............Carver may well kill himself, but when the online hand ringing has died down how will it affect you??.........do you know him well??...is he family??.........if not the affect will be minimal to you and 99% of the online KB world.
People die, regardless of circumstances pain to those left behind is inevitable. Believing motorcyclists are somehow affected beyond the norm is illogical.

Nah hes just taking the piss on an Internet forum, as Big Dave observes. The problem occurs when the PC brigade blows a fuse over it and let the abuse flow. As usual.

Of course, you are right. But we each WILL live our lives how we choose and it really is none of anyone elses business. Celebrate that we can choose!

I hesitate to reveal things about myself on KB now.. The facts are, no person on KB is affected in the slightest about what I do or do not do, so pouring anger upon one another just ties up our lives in a bitter fashion, and maybe that is a valid use of KB for some people - perhaps they feel angry about where they have come from in their lives.

I think a lot of bitterness on KB is simply poor behaviour. I'm going to stop doing it, or responding to it.
