Vespa price check

Say Ive always liked the idea of a scooter, and it would be useful for buzzing round town. Say i quite like the idea of having a wee project.

Say I saw this on tardme: A Vespa

What do you experts think it is worth now?

What would the bits cost to get it roadworthy?

Are they available?

anything else you can tell me is good.

When I was first thinking about getting a classic scoot I considered one of these (waits for derision from Mr Lobster) but was told in no uncertain terms by Auckland's Mr Vespa (Goetz at Scooter Emotion) not to bother.

The general thinking in Vespa circles seems to be that the only "Small Frame" Vespas that are worth having are the SS types - but for the money they'll cost you there's no excuse for not buying a Lambretta.

That small frame looks alright, if the price doesn't go up much more.

It's been on a while though.

Budget a fair few bucks to make it go fast enough to keep up with the traffic. And you'd need to do something about the brakes too. A disc out of a filthy auto one might fit..

If Goertz says to not buy something.. it's probably a good reason TO buy it.

I think one of lads that races down at Mt Welly has grafted an ET fork onto one somehow.

Smallframe vespas are undiscovered treasures - with an 85 or 135cc kit they can be fast and nimble, and much more fun than a PX.

That one looks pretty good, but needs work obviously.

The star indicators or reflectors look a little silly though. But so cute! It's a small-frame SS, that's good?

It's a 50s, not an SS. A standard 50s is very slow as a rule.

NO! A PX200 is by far the worst vesper. Before the PX came along, vespers weren't known as Laquered Snails. The vesper PX is a perfect example of a laquered snail.
Ugly.. slow.. clunky gearboxes.. wont go round corners..

Undiscovered? Surely you Jesst? If you're more than 5'10" and don't want to look like Krusty the Clown, avoid.

Yes but if you're under 5' 10, they are great... not all of us are behemoths.
