Saw an ambulance leaving Town, at about 8-45pm, as I was coming into Halswell. I hope no-one's hurt.

Hope the Dauvachelles run was a good one
Just 4 of us headed round the Summit rd to Evans Pass then thru to Governors Bay.The Hyosung(sorry !!dont know your name!!)headed back and we took off to Diamond Harbour, bit of bike swappingthen back to Wheatsheaf for a drink.
Hooning into Wheatsheaf car park on a Duc is a VERY stupid thing to doThe large skid marks the spot, she was a two finger clutch job home
I blame Motorad-ical....when hes around I get into trouble!!![]()
I hope so, have been watching the thread since the last couple of posts with some trepidation, so thanks for the update HOT. The gravel in the Wheatsheaf carpark is bad bad bad eh!
I guess I'm aware that we all need to take extra care out there, coming up to Christmas. Ride safely all ~

I had a fine run, may not make next week as have other stuff on then which I have to drop overtime to get to and don't like loosing to much of that stuff.
Then again you never know what the day may bring.
ps, aren't there rules about reporting or discussing accidents?

I managed to get back home. I assume the other one did as well, last saw her passing through Shirley.
I enjoyed myself, I'll definitely try and get along again. Thanks to those of you that pointed out that my indicator was loose and my headlight was aimed to high. Must've been why I keep missing turn offs, now I can see them instead of just the sign. Wasn't so nice finding the flashing lights after Little River though.
I don't know what the rules are, but ....
One of us came a cropper tonight, he failed to make the turn at Birdlings Flat and took out the barrier and a sign.
The sun was very low and bright, so I'm guessing that was the cause.
Have to give big ups to the guys/gal first on the scene, they were doing all of the right things. Good to know that there are people like you on the rides.
I had a great time till then too, very sobering seeing someone down like that. Hope you come out ok fella.![]()
when I topped the hill on the way home the sun was scarlet on the hills, my first thought was those tight corners and the sun in them.
best wishes to the rider and hope for a speedy recovery.
That sun was a killer i backed off my speed onthe way home when i hit birdlings flat at about 830ish the sun was right at eye level made judging the corners and to that fact anything 10-15m in front of me bad,
got home alright though
was good to ride with everybody

A bloody big billboard on that corner might help to block the sun, it was a real bitch. I hope he's ok.
Just put your left hand up to shade your eyes people.
I had a bit of a conversation with phoenixgtr before we left about it, he said I had an advantage with my wide bars but fact is I've always done it, on all my bikes including the CBR1000 and VF1000 of which neither had particularly wide bars. If you have any doubt that it can be done on ya sports bikes then I question how you think onearmedbandit manages. He is the only one here who has half a good reason not to do it as he's already riding with only one hand on the bars.
If you have the tank clamped with your knees and arse planted firmly in the seat then you don't need both hands or wide bars to steer ya bike especially since you've slowed a bit since you couldn't see.
We are only talking the few minutes here and there when you are actually heading straight in to the sun, usually the next bend to steer you away from it again isn't far away.

This is one of the reasons I am aprehensive about heading out on these rides when they end that time of night.
I wonder Helen if an Ambo' officer (if you're not really at liberty to) could give us all a bit of a write up on what to do if first or one of the first at a accident scene.
I know there have been posts regarding this in the past, but in all due respect to the posters, they may not be trained to the extent of someone in that profession. Yes I know there are ex professionally trained people who post here so feel free to say I'm being OTT. Just trying to look out for us all, or even a cager when needed.
That's all

That's easy. Attend a first aid course, that'll give you all the answers you need as a layman. But baring that, the most important thing is to keep a cool head and act in a rational manner.
And if you hope that someone with a clue about first aid is around if you come off, then it would only be courteous to attend such a course yourself.
And in conclusion - there's a huge difference between being trained in something and being an instructor.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)
