Ran the camera through Scotsman Valley Road this morning and back through Tauhora Road.......worked OK with the cheap card. Worst problem is the time it takes to upload to the computer......zzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzz... I think I could improve my wing mirror mount system a little - lots of vibration which does not help pic quality. However, on the plus side, the audio captures the V-Twin rumble very nicely..hehehe specially when the revs climb a little......not that I do a lot of that of course......

    Ride report

We headed out in the blistering sun down te-rapa straight at a fairly leisurely pace with kawhia in mind, after a bit of throttle symphony at pukete we headed out te-kowhai road and cruizing down ol' 39 we rounded up to the (regular stopping place) cafe in pirongia and as i desired a coffee and a stop - purely by habit - everyone took off again.. nope, turns out they don't stop there??? Anyways, we took off to kawhia on slightly tacky tar and fill and once there (see my album) it took 4 photos to capture about 41 bikes! was bloody great!

After baking sufficiently we blitzed off in search of hamilton across a small river of tar and chiped stones with the promise of a barbecue and dreams of icebergs leading the ride back, i had to stop for gas () so we were near the end for a while. There were reports of a tail-gating, blind passing, cutting off, nissan driving prick of a cage on the way back, we didn't get the number plate unfortunately.

Bryce and i landed at the school (too hot to ride so i got the car) and settled for a barbecue and a play on the swings -

All in all a successful day and a whole lot of people out on the road, was bloody cool.

There was a guy on a gravel corner who caught some really good photo's of quite a few bikes so I will have a look into how to get the photo's tomorrow, its probably going to be a donation to get the really high quality ones which i think is fair.

Anyways, because the ride today (probably yesterday now) was to kawhia murray and i reckoned it would be silly to do it all again next weekend so we thought of murray's plan of going central to rotovegas and checking out the lakes, the idea is to ride to and swim in the blue lake when we get there. Its probably about 350km loop

Its now late enough to be considered early so i am off to bed.

PS. politics gone, using the pub instead.

Cheers for the report Koz, I was hoping someone would put something up. Was wondering if you guys were feeling the heat up here. Imagine what it would have been like for us going hard around a track!!

Apparently it was meant to get 26 degrees yesterday but I reckon it sneaked up there a little hotter. We had some of the laxed out crew representing in every group on the HMCC Track Day yesterday. In my group (Grade C) I was swamped by chicks on 250 ninja's. One of them had only been riding since Friday!! Like I said it her, this is the best place to ride.

I dunno about the other two that went (Paddy, Kane) but I found it bloody good and made some big improvements. It was only the little things I had to improve on but it makes a big difference. Cruising home, I was going faster around corners while thinking I was going slower. It was definitely the best way to get introduced to a track day. I only wish it could chop some time off my licence. Learnt more there then I would on a cage course.

In our grade, the big bikes (600+) got suggested to that they should check their mirrors in case us little guys were behind them. They would hold us up on the corners then blitz us on the straights. So they were told to move over and let us past.

The last session was interesting (3 sessions in all on the track I think - 110km!). Since the majority of people had gone home, it was a free-for-all instead of seperated by grades. So 2 of us 250's blat on the track with a majority from grade A ("racers"). That got interesting getting flown past around corners you thought you were going nuts on.

All in all awesome day, and I wish they had similar days all the time (classroom, practical, track time). I agree it's the best way to learn and improve skills
