    Trackday celebs

One of the thngs I like about track days is you never know who you might meet.

In the UK at various track days I've met :

Carl Fogarty (with his entire Petronas team)
    Troy Corser
    James Hayden
    Nial McKenzie
    jamie Whitham
    John reynolds
    Ron Haslam
    Sean Emmett

OK.... some might not be impressed (but stuff you. I was)

Yesterday I did a track day down 'ere at Taupo. Got a pit garage... Who did I share a garage all day with ? Fred Merkel. 3 times AMA Superbike Champ and twice World Superbike Champion.... genuine biking god... and a nice bloke .... he was showing his son how to ride on the track.... I passed him twice (but I doubt he was trying) !!

we're best mates now.... honest !!!

...a couple of pics.... didnt have the balls to stick a camera in front of him...

A good day... good weather. First of the season...

    Thats cool man.

The closest I have come to meeting a celeb is meeting Josh Kronfeld. Hes a down to earth good bugger.

Did you notice how much further upright Fred is, than the dude on the green bike, at more or less the same transition point through to the straight? Yet his arse is not off the seat and his knee is only mildly bent. Next time I meet him I have to ask about that.

    You're right. He's a seriously good man.

I've met a few of our celebs, now, and to a fault they are real down-under genuine guys.

I'd like to meet the young woman who did the street speed-record. Seems to me she's the 21st century version of Germany's Hanna Reistch (best test pilot ever).

If you're up to reading an amazing story, get the book about Hanna from the library.
    Only 'Now' exists in reality.
