Oh there are many ways of doing it. I had 6 kids, 3 of mine, and 3 foster kids (Miss Moo being one). We went to a Guy Fawkes thing at the school, it was dark when we left and I wanted to keep the kids in sight, I told them to stay in sight but 2 of the boys kept running off into the dark. Couple of warnings I would make them hold hands if they took off again, and off they went. SO I get them back, hold one hand, brother holds brothers hand and we walked out of school. How embarrassing for them. Worked though, never had that problem again.
My best shaming out invention though was a little pink plastic chair. I used to put it out in the turn around of our driveway and if the kids played up, they had to go and sit there. Ten year old boys hate being humiliated like that, it was my favourite thing. The threat of some time on the pink chair worked wonders for me![]()
