On so many levels this has taken the pleasant way I like to spend my Wednesday nights and taken the shine off of it.

And this is why I had a shit on with the guy that tried moving my bike, well that and the fact the crashie nearly took out two good friends and I sprained my ancle trying to find him... so umm sorry bout that wolf.

People this is not a race, the destination will still have hot chips and cold beer when you get there, first or last,

And with some... this will fall on deaf ears, and always will this sort of person will rearly even learn the hard way (not nesaseriously aimed at Mr crash on the night)


Righteeeeeeeeeeee O, a couple of very decent people and good riders have already said the basics... but you all know Ill say my piece aswell.
Phinex puts a good effort into these rires, if shit goes bad the coppers will be looking for him, I purposly did not tell HOTs new B/F in blue that we were a knowen group as I dont want unessary attention to KB. As there is and will be fuck wit riders on these rides its up to the rest of us to put them in there place or tell them to piss off... yes ALL of us not just me LOL.

For me I was 1st equal on the sceen... I parked my borowed bike rather fast stalling it and looked over the fence, nothing to be seen but good oll kiwi bush. Took note of the 88m skid mark an was able to trace the bike, on my guts still wearing all clothing I crawled through the scrub calling for the rider... couldent find him, and this was kinda freakie as I knew he was there, came out the other side of the trees and fall over a fence re spraing my ancle... looked down the feild and saw the twit in a heap, quick check over and I calmed down a bit, as he was all in tact and talking, so went up to get our in house nursie.
Retro had allready been on the phone and I could hear the alarm going off in the port folowed by Govners bay, 3 firies and 2 cops and the ollll meat wagon rocked up in what I thought was bloody good time.
There was no way this rider was going back the way he came in and lucky there was a track leading to a drive way close by.
Im fucking amazed this guy isent dead, when you follow his path down the bank for 20 odd meters you relise he missed by inches sign posts, lamp post, fences, rocks, trees and landing beside a rusty old jagered water troff... WAKE UP MAN some one wants you around a bit longer.

So... my reason for writing this, I hope just one person will will read it and take heed, on how stupid decisions/riding can affect others, if so selfish not to get it then please dont come on these rides in my words 'fuck off'
Accos can and will happen, but in this case the fuck wit at hand was overtaking two riders as there was an oncomming car, his speed was huge... this sort of acco does NOT need to happen.

shit that sux had a good ride over past wheatshef (?) then round toward tai tapu and got lost! I saw a few guys riding past me as i wonder where the f*ck i was going haha. Other than gettin lost was a good first night out although i didnt hang around too long as we were the first to leave

yeah, we waited at little river, but could not get any phone signal to call you. lots more days to ride

It was my first wednesday cruise and me and my friend (Yamaha Dragstar) felt really welcomed. We didnt know anyone, but everyone was such a friendly bunch always willing to have a yarn and offer some encouragement.

We did our best to keep up through summit road but I was taking a more leisurely pace being gentle on my engine because i was running it in still, of course (

Anyway we had another appointment to go to before 8pm so I had to part from the destination half way through riding through sumner then back into town.

Thank you everyone for being so accomodating to me and my friend Daniel. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't joined a Wednesday cruise to come along. You take it at your own pace and everyone is so friendly.

Sincerely hope that our fellow rider is ok, and shame about the bike but sounds like it could have been much worse. I was relieved that I didn't come along last night (tired and catching up after our work xmas party), mostly 'cos I don't want to scare the daylights out of Little Boy. He's going to experience enough of life's dramas, as his mother I want to protect him from the dark side as long as I can.

In saying so, however ... get the contradiction - we sat up and watched the Passion of Christ, Mel Gibsons' movie about the crucifixion. Sad how so many people who were his so called friends and fellow men became so blood thirsty to judge him - and I kind of want to hide Little Boy from that as well!

Care about our fellow bikers, folks. Share the love.

None of us go out on purpose to crash, or to upset another person's night. It is just a slip, a momentary lapse of reason, a lesson for the day. Some of us - myself included - have to learn the hard way, and I would not give up those hard experiences for anything. They make me feel alive. If I die, I hope that it makes you feel alive. We only have this day, remember.

I don't want to hurt myself, or take anyone along with me if something happens, but I accept the reality here - motorcycling is dangerous and shit happens. Sometimes we are powerless over that, and often it is an end result of our choices. It is our journey, and we share the road with others who, at the end of the day, are probably more like us than we care to admit.

I don't know how many times we say "ride within your own ability". I'm getting sick of hearing it, but it just doesn't seem to get through. These rides are a cruise. They're a social event. A chance for new to learn from old. They're not a race!!

This incident was stupid. It should never have happen and it's bloody lucky it wasn't worse. The rider was extremely lucky he came away relatively unscathed. He was a couple of inches away from death.

I can't afford to get in shit because of someone elses mistakes. I'm seriously considering taking a break from these rides and that's sad because I love them.

I am not responsible for anyones riding. You are all responsible for yourselves but you need to remember that your actions put others at danger. If Geordie had taken out Helen or Tim this would have been much worse and if the crash hadn't killed him I think the rest of us would have!!

I wasn't going to open my mouth but sometimes I just can't help it. There are always going to be different points of view about this kind of stuff and I hope when Geordie gets back to a computer he takes a good long hard look at this thread.

1) to have missed the pole
2) to have had a support crew such as Helen and team around.
Anyway all the best for a good recovery Geordie but please every one not only ride to your abilities but think of the others on the road!!

Groups of sportsbikes will always result in riders who want to fang it. No amount of online "ride nicely" will ever change this.

BUT, there is an option. As suggested before the guys that want to go at a quicker pace that is incompatible with the majority leaves with the first group. This group will still split into subgroups of like-paced riders who dont mind an R6 up their date so much....you will be better served here than carving up newbies and crusiers in the main group.

but it's hard for some guys to want to offer advice to other riders, when all the get is flack for trying to help. we are not all the most experianced riders, but surely if we have a little bit more experience that we can share to someone else who doesnt, that will benefit them. they don't have to agree with it, but, isn't better for more inexperinced riders to have that choice.

we travel fast, but we normally go ahead or plan a slightly different route, so that if we come off, its our own fault. we had dave with us last night and izzy helped him with his lines and he appreciated it alot. we had no incidents and as faras i know, everyone enjoyed the ride, the faster gus went ahead at their pace and the slower guys at what they felt comfortable.
and to top it all off, we got a free plate of wedges at the pub

Jeff I am sure that your input plus that of others is appreciated but those who you help out, and sure you point out you might not be the most experienced of us but there are still skills you can pass on, basics that can be practiced are the best.

And in that lies the problem mate, if you and Izzy could at some point, (and I know this will be difficult, (p/t)), could slow down and ride towards the back, see what guys are doing, then offer help with lines, control etc then we would be all be better off.

Do we have to make up a big sign board for the start or something silly? I have a sledge hammer here do I need to take it along to hammer it home, slow and steady pace, we all get beer and chips at the end, (if a we have money hey casuality , b if thats what we want.)
