yes you did. CBF going to pick it up so left it there. I think it was $1000 petrol vouchers and 4 sets of tyres.

    anyhow, ride report..

I had a parents Vs kids cricket game this morning and then watched the youngen feature in the Ashhurst christmas parade.
I rushed (responibily) to woodville hoping to catch up with the riders there to find them still coming over the saddle road. Mint. Caught up with Glenn in the traffic jam and parked up to find Meanie, BanditRider and co.
Was surprised to see not alot of yokels out there TBH.
Waited till everyone started leaving and headed to the servo for gas. Apparently 500 other people had the same idea. Bugger.
Found sly at the servo having issues.
Criused out towards the beach in a lesiurely fashion letting whoever felt like it go past. The roads were mint and dry so was expecting a bit of carnage. Found alot of riders like to go really really fast in a striaght line. With Meanie in tow we sat on 110km/hr and found we were catching alot of bikes. The riders we saw on display left alot to be desired. Just t qualify this I am not talking about those that ambled their way out in the nice weather. I have no issue at all with people who enjoy riding at a slow pace - but 2 wide blasting down the striaghts and 4 wide crawling round blind corners gets really old, really fast.
Heard of a couple of incidents where bikes made new gateways in fences but didnt see any on the way.
The weather at the beach was mint. Caught up with monamine, Mark and youngen, Horse, BR and company. Hung round prizegiving for a bit before heading back out webber way in the same fashion we went out there. Cruising along making our way round the twisties and was again surpised to run into traffic. Stopped in Dannivegas for hot chocy and supersonic turned up so rode back to ashhurst with him and his father in law, meanie and horse.

Good day out on the bike all in all.

Be good to see less alcohol being drunk on the ride and some guys wearing some gear would be mint too.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Overall a good ride, and a good day for it. Definitely fun participating in the Woodville Xmas parade, just for that alone I think I'd do it again.

Generally good behaviour from most of the riders as far as Woodville, but the twisty stuff from Woodville to Akitio saw plenty that concerned me, including one bin that happened 2 bikes in front of me. Apparently many of the riders were wearing their psychic trousers today and could therefore ride 2 abreast in the RH lane overtaking 2 other bikes riding abreast in the LH lane while approaching blind corners.

Best part of the ride was probably the toddle home from Akitio to Dannevirke, where I fueled up before turning South again for Woodville. I'd done my sums right, I filled up at Foxton this morning before the ride, fuel light came on 10km before reaching Dannevirke meaning I avoided the refuel hell at Woodville or Pongeroa.

Interesting development at Dannevegas - as I sat behind Cowboyz and Meanie at idle, waiting for the other 2 bikes to fire up for the return journey, I noticed that my bike was sounding even slightly more agricultural than usual (and yes, such a thing is possible ). A check when I stopped near Woodville at my parents' for tea soon revealed the problem - one of the nuts holding the flange that clamps the exhaust header to the rear cylinder was AWOL, leaving the header slightly loose and able to emit a particularly unpleasant farty noise. The nut must have worked loose and vibrated off the bolt somewhere between the coast and Dannevirke. I tightened the remaining nut and will replace the missing one ASAP.

Really it would have been neat if you were there too....it's hard missing a ride when you know everyone else is out having a good time.

I hate it when your riding along and your nuts fall off.
