Maaaattteeee,
Been there, done that, know how you feel.
I've been in NZ 10 years since emigrating from London. Left behind a big family, heaps of mates and my football team. Had a shit time at first, crap jobs, no luck, nowhere decent to live etc etc. I was homesick as f**k..
Then, after 3 years, it all turned around, I'm as happy as a poofter at a "Show Me Your Bum" competition.
Do as Sarge says, stave off the homesickness by surrounding yourself with familiar stuff and hook into as much piss as you possibly can.
We' re all here with you matey
Cheers....![]()
Just do your best girl. Its hard I know. Been there done that.... Just not in Aussie.
It was hard comming back to NZ trying to get Gabby a job here dealing with snobby shop assistents here in Auckland.
and we might be doing it all over again in a few months.
Plus on top of that was sent a job offer for work back in Iraq. Dont think I will go back again, dont want to leave Gabby here alone.
Just take each day as it comes. It realy does get stressfull but good things do come to those that wait. ... (shit 1 year without riding)![]()
If you are behind me
Dont ask as I am lost too.
sorry to hear you homesick. I would sing you a few lines from "GOD DEFEND NEW ZEALAND" but I'm a little hung over for the moment.
My son went to Brisane, Love the place, but just found there's no place like home. He stuck it out for 4 years and came home.
Don't understand why you can't ride on your R E learners licence.??
Chin up love, If you get down and out KBers will send you so love, happiness and good cheer just stay in touch.![]()

TOP QUOTE: “The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”
Are you there "permanently" or for a finite period with a plan to return to NZ?
The suggestions from Sarge sound good to me - sounds, smells and tastes from home e.g. L & P, pineapple lumps (sent some of those to my mum for her birthday when she was over in Pommy land a few years back) etc.
But, don't forget the balance like Grahameeboy said. You obviously went for a reason and if you cling to "home" too much you may miss opportunities to find the good things where you are.
p.s. I thought there were so many Kiwis over in Oz that you'd probably think you were just in another part of Aotearoa anyway
All the best!
I'm picking that there are certain things about NZ that you miss?
I understand there are shops that sell kiwi items, such as L&P, so you may not need to have someone send them over.
Try not to dwell on what you miss, because like other people have said, it may prevent you from seeing the potential of the place you're in now. There was obviously a reason you left New Zealand and thinking about "home" could easily convince you to come back prematurely.
Maybe when you're feeling a bit homesick you could go and see one of Australia's sights? Or maybe you could do something that reflects the reason you moved there?
yea man.. originally from just out side Cincinnati Ohio..
