Shorty on the side? (06 blade)

    hey there guys and gals.
i don't suppose any of you would know where/who to put me on to, to find out the pros and cons of taking out my underseat exhaust, and putting a side shorty on? (06 blade)
i'd also like to see some pic's if possible,to see how they tidy up the underseat area, and what it looks like with the side jobby.
    cheers
    naph'

It will no doubt change the power delivery. Short exhausts tend to steal from the low down power, and add to the top end - as witness on my friends '07 ZX10R with a Muzzy M10 drag racing exhaust.

Warren at Virgin Mufflers can do you one, but if I were you i'd look at something aftermarket for an R6/GSXR750/08' CBR1000 - as they are purpose made side shortys - depends what sort of look you like I guess.

It will also tend to be a fair bit louder than an equivalent under tail exhust.

All I know is you will be saving abit of weight by having a short stubbie exhaust. Search for Toto 's Black Hornet 900 (originally Macstar's) bike pictures-it aint a Fireblade at least will give you an idea of how it's gonna look. He got rid of the 2 under-exhaust and got Warren to make a side stubbie exhaust.....it is loud and creates attention all the time.
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.

cheers man....that's some good info there.

i can handle it being louder,as the stock blade pipe sucks, but i don't think i'd like to take any power away from the bottom end,or mid range,as that's where it would be better boosted.
as for the top end,i'm not likely to ever use it in the top couple of gears, especially on the road.

Have a talk to Shaun Harris mate - he ran a GSXR600k6/7 with a yoshi full system - it had a side mount pipe like the earlier models, not the 'GP style' pipes, I'd hazard a guess and say that that was to get better power delivery.

Also look up hotbodies... i think they'll do a tail tidy for your bike without the pipe under the seat.

Ah! There's your problem: it's supposed to blow.

What exactly is wrong with the underseat exhaust? Location, performance, or what? You could just opt to keep an underseat one, but change the muffler.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

well....i thought that it would look tidier for starters,(in particular taking out the pipe work and associated garb'),i could also get rid of the heat shielding,(which tend to rattle a little bit),and having one on the side would be just that much closer to my ears
