Big Dave waves , but nobody ever realises, because the wave is hidden in the clouds.

I still can't get the hang of the upwards nod.

    I think I'm too white.

In faaaact - of all the +/- 2000cc machines - only the Goldwing and Rune have a 1000cc click.

I wave to Ducatis, nod to other Italian marques, lift a finger to V twins, raise my left eyebrow to anything else red, raise my right eyebrow to any non-Japper, twitch the left corner of my mouth to anything over 750cc, twitch the right side to anything over 30 years old, tilt my head to the left for crusiers, tilt my head to the right for all others.

So, as you can imagine, there could be more than one acknowledgement required at once.

On the other hand, it's usually easier just not to wave at all...annnnnd there's your real reason!

Harley riders dont wave....Gotta keep up the image.

Guzzi riders dont wave...Shaft torque pulls them into the ditch.

Ducati riders dont wave...messes with the manicure.

Two smokers dont wave...Gotta keep that clutch hand ready for a seizure.

Old Brit riders do wave...Relieves the numb finger vibes.

    Jappas wave...coz they can.

Metric crusier riders sometimes wave if you have chrome. Then retract the wave.
    Ducati riders NEVER wave.
    Guzzi riders always wave
BMW riders have stopped waving to God because He didn't wave back
BSA riders always wave, though this is a mixed blessing because they shower you with oil when they do.
Two smoker riders probably wave, but who knows what's happening inside that smoke cloud.
aww..I ride Ducati and I ALWAYS wave (or nod if I'm avoiding an accident) ..to anyone on a bike, even Harleys!
Maybe it's because I used to ride a Guzzi.. bikers are generally nice people, cause most times they wave back )

ok after the ride today, I have decided waving may not be the best (esp for newbies!) so i just do a head nod. Did it at a few bikes, probably half acknowledged me. Most waved at me afterwards so that means a headwave works! I mean, I ALWAYS look at other bikes on the road so i assume other may do that? sometimes I dont like to take attn off the geak changing or brakin that waving may cause, so i reckon nodding is just as good. I mean, we DO need both hands. Cagers only need 1
