Lap times for Taupo 3 day meeting

Hi guys (and girls with more balls than me...)

Here is a link to lap times from Taupo 08
    http://homepages.slingshot.co.nz/~marktime/results.html

Makes for some good reading. Check out the wet sessions. Oh, and also Stroudies new lap record........

    Cheers,

    Sweet.

Hey, check it out, there were a whole three bikes at the endurance race whose best laps were slower than mine!

In the absence of transponders, how does that lap timing system actually work?

    By the biggest bribes.........

No, seriously, by a guy with a few computers/videos/race number callers etc.
Each bike is triggered as it crosses the line, and their race number is inputed. A video is used to confirm numbers if there is a large group of you. It is as accurate as you could be with a stopwatch. Unless everyone wants to pay an extra $70 per bike for a transponder that is....... (but I doubt it).....

The only probs we had were people going out in the wrong class of practice - and then not showing up in their class results, or race numbers on the sides of the bikes that were too small/bad to read. MNZ is very clear about numbers and colours and sizes, riders just have to read the rules, so spotters can read their numbers.

I think it worked very well. The only prob we had is not having a photocopier in the sign on shed to take copies. We were supposed to be supplied 1 through the track management. Oh well................ teething probs.......
