But seriously - the closer to the top of the S.I the greater the chance of a few Northies coming over...(that may or may not be a good thing!)

If those norflanders seriously want to join us, they will make the effort required.
To get to, say Seddonville, (example only) from the ferry, will cost less effort, and money, than those KB'rs in the southern end of the island. If the southerners need an extra day to get there, and an extra day to get home. And are prepared to do so, then so should those norf of there...

I disagree! That's where Anna Scarlett, (Silver Fern, NZ rep Beach Volleyball) comes from. Nothing cross eyed about her. She makes me go cross eyed when she's playing BVB on TV!

Yup. It's the South Island KB rally, so I feel the site needs to be at a location agreed to by those living in the SI in fairness to those traveling within the SI. Northerners are welcome to come along by all means to the site decided on. At the last one Doc made the effort to come from Dorkland, and Goblin from Rotorua, to Danseys and good on them.

It's been a few years since I last went to Karamea, but your description sounds just as I recall it.
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?

A thought for all thinkig of location, location.
The last two events were held in places that were islolated enough that we did not disturb any neigbours, because there werent any!
To go to a camp/towm/location that is populated means that we cant have a bit pit fire and party till 3am! Half the fun of the Southern KB'ers bash is that we can get loose and nobody can judge us, or complain.
Seeking out a location that fits this parameter was the reason That I suggested Kopara.
You want a good party, or a mediocer one.
Ok, Kopara is at the end of 17+ks of gravel road, but the road condition is better than most state highways. So dont worry about your bikes getting stones in the drive belts, farings, or any other little place that could be nasty.
Ys there will be other places as good, some better.
    but i ask
What does the site need to have to fill the needs of 60+ rowdy bikes on the loose for a couple of nights.
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
