I'm currently on a six-month licence holiday due to, uh, indiscretions, so I've pulled the lights off, put a number board on the front and am getting my arse kicked in Clubmans at the PMCC summer series.

She'll be back on the road in April. I'm pondering a Pre '89 Post Classics bike for after that. Racing's addictive. And you're quite right; the GSX1400 ain't no racebike.

There were a couple of nice shiny blue and white GSX1400s out there representin', I came out in Group 3 with Jody on the back and gave one of you a wave as we went through turn 8, didja notice?

Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat in the pits. We should all introduce ourselves next time!

Absolutely.. I don't brake into turn 4 at all. You want to set your line from 3, crack the gas through 4 (or maybe coast) then brake for turn 5.

If I get it right I ride the 2-3-4 combo using only throttle control.

True... but briefings are mainly for newbies, they need to cover everything. I'm not dissing Steve, he's better than a lot of others!

Nah bro, you can gas it hard once you're over the crest, plenty of time for a good couple of seconds of WOTing before you have to brake for T5, just let the rear wheel do its thing. Edit: I'm guessing that doing that a bit too early might've been what unhinged the mail-order bride on the CBR thou...

Too easy to get right up the arse of peeps there and line up for a pass around T7/T8, so you gotta keep the pace on lest you be given the LEARN (tm).

WOT through 4 eh... I'm pretty sure I'm not gassing it hard there but maybe I could be. Going to bring the camera again next time to analyse what I'm doing wrong in a few corners.

Not through as such, just once you're over the crest and heading toward 5.

Meh, just brake later and harder and accelerate earlier and harder.

if only it was that easy. I've still got some wrinkles to sort out on my lines before I push harder on brakes and gas.

I know I've got heaps of braking in reserve as I had to haul up a bit quick and late on T1 and T7 to avoid passing people on the inside when they slowed down more than I was expecting.
