    R2 NZSBK Superbike Choppa

Well after round 2 im still 5th overall....

I really enjoyed this track, we managed to get an extra days testing during the week so that was a huge help on a new track. Over the weekend i got down to 1.064 so im slowly catching the big boys!

    Race 1,
I struggled off the start as the launch control on the bike keeps cutting in and out but it didnt matter too much as i only lost 1 place to Brad Selfe, i chased him hard for the first 3 laps but it was quite a difficult track for passing, i started showing him a wheel on some risky places and Brad decided to rest his battered body and let me by. I could see Ray Clee not far in front but i just couldnt reel him in and when i started getting cramps in my legs i decided to just cruise to the finish as there was no threat from behind.

    I finised 6th

    Race 2,
We had previously raised the rearsets to get more ground clearence but it was too high and gave me cramps in my legs after a while so we dropped em down.
Just before we went out for race 2 a patchy shower came through! It totally destroyed my race, for the first 3 laps i cruised around certain the race would be getting red flagged but the rain just didnt come well not much just enough to make it a tad slippery so rather then do anything stupid i just checked behind me and kept my position in 6th place.

Something worthy of a mention is that all the guys in front of me each have a spare bike they can ride next week if they happened to wreck theres in uncertain conditions.

I really need James from Speed-Tech to work some magic on there zx10r its really starting to struggle as its done over 4000ks on the track so expect to see a fast zx10r in the north island rounds (if i pay my account)

Also a big thankyou to LG for making all this even remotely possible, if you guys are needing any electronics give me a call cause I can get you guys some cheap gear!

Also Eddie! Thanks a million bro! Eddie has been so helpful i really dont know how to thank him, he is also riding and doing bloody well! If you look at his times and keep in mind that was his very first time on the track and he wouldnt have done any more then 20 laps on a 4 year old bike before he was on the line with the elite of NZ and australia! He busted out low 10s and still had plenty up his sleeve, look out at vmcc this year if he keeps it up!

    Stroud doesn't...

But besides that...wicked shit fella!! 5th place over all in that company aint bad at all!!! and your not far off the pace...half the time at least would be in Machine setup expirence/learning. Can't wait to see you progress next year!!

Ps: re: rearsets...I have long legs...found down and back [as far as I could] was a good comprimise with ground clearence issuse without raising the whole bike.

I felt quite frustrated imagining what it must be like nearly almost but not quite catching up to the fastest guys out there. Then I remembered how long you've been at this superbike racing game. Shit hot skills bro. I hope you can keep at it for a few years. A bit more experience at this level must be as important an ingredient as well as the machinery?

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. You seem to have found yourself in a bit of a hole, the "best of the rest" (so far) if you like. You'll only get closer to the front though, those guys are battling to improve tenths of sec's whereas you (and Eddie) are finding much greater chunks of time every time time you turn a wheel. Great effort by both of you. Life is Good! (sorry couldn't resist)

Awesome effort Sloan, a real shame about the uncertain weather in that second race. I like it either pissing down or scorching, in between sucks!

Good luck for the rest of the rounds, stick it to 'em

(4000kms on that thing already? Farq!!)

you were looking real smooth until the rain started coming down, but i'd be wary of a 200bhp machine in the damp on slicks too.

    go hard this weekend
