Like always speed is not a prblem on its own but it it seems some are forgetting the spirit of the ride and not being as considerate around other riders as they could be.
The friday night cruisy ride was created to end the week with a social get together and would be good to not lose the purpose of the ride. Its a great way to end the week.
Been thinking about this for a couple of days now and think we need to keep things in check to keep everyone safe.
One thing i would like to see happen is the second from the lead stops at the turn off... All turn offs, so no one gets lost, especialy with so many showing up to do these rides.
And we need a dedicated tail end charlie that stays at the back the whole ride so the point person recognises the last person and can join the ride instaed of waiting for phantom riders. Above all i think we need to ride safe and promote safe riding and leave our egos at home

Id be quite happy to bring up the rear the odd time so to speak.. We can take turn about or do it like in the sober driver adds.. Play a little game and the loser becomes tail end Charlie..

However, untill th RF is sorted, I won't be riding

The problem with second in line stopping is at the start of the ride the faster riders get out in front, where they should be keeping out of the way. If one stops to give directions that puts a fast rider at the back of the field. They then have to decide to ride at a pace they might not be comfortable riding or pass everyone. Problem.

The friday night rides are short enough and the routes are seldom complicated. Maybe we can put a bit more emphasis on where we are actually going. If a little attention is paid to ride speech then it shouldnt be hard to not get lost.(bearing in mind one has to know their left from their right).

From what I can see there are 2 problems.

    1. riders are getting too disorgainised at stops and fast riders are heading away too late. If you are late on the bike then it goes that your ride is going to be slower than if you are right out front. Sure you can pass your way through the slower riders but are just going to have to concede that it is going to take a long time to get to the front. One thing I would like to see stopped all together is multipule bike passing manovouers. Especially at high speed.

    2. Riders getting red mist and *having* to be at the front. The whole spirit of the fri night ride was to be a cruisy ride.

ok mental note, pay more attention to the route.. The minute we get away from Mobil I'm 9 times out of 10 following the leader cos I have no idea where the hell we going...

Then there is the fork, I can never remember to turn left or right...

Hey, don't we all know someone that would do really well at showing up to these rides with printed maps for eveyone?? Havne't seen her for a while.
