Just picked up The Beastie from Anza from its 8000km service-ouch
9 x Harleys sitting outside from a ride yesterday....all with broken belts from road works. Apparently they are going to have a go at the council/road fixer people about paying. I am not sure where this happened, but north of here.
Oh dear, another sad little post from the man who thinks sarcasm is wit.
And yet another reason to examine the shite standards of road works these days. I am seriously considering digging deeper (don't say anything). Last time I rang Transit about this they buck passed to the contractors.
Unbelievable. Maybe the roading contractors have got shares in the company that makes the belts. Wonder if you could go the consumer guarantee act way: bike (or belt) not fit for purpose as can't ride bike on the road without rubber band breaking...
Put me off rubber bands for life...
It's definitely worth a go! I'm sure they're more sloppy now than they used to be. No doubt I'll get all the bullshit about budgets and contractors, timelines, efficiencies, resources and accountabilities and all the rest of it. But maybe someone will suggest something useful or actually listen. Thanks for the suggestion
Someone HAS to be responsible in our wonderful little world surely.
Yep, I don't mind some of the Buells and quite like the BMW 800's too...
Horse also has the most sensible Harley they make but it is crying out for a shaft - like every single other big-bore tourer...
Work through the list until you strike it lucky eh?
Seriously though, maybe you shouldn't tackle unsealed roads with a rubber band (although if a Buell Ulysses is supposed to be an adventure bike then maybe it's ok) but you should be able to ride on supposedly sealed routes...
Bit of a broken record here but we certainly seem to be forced to accept rubbish roads - I just hope they can get some stones to stick down and stay put before the winter rain...
Wherever you head around here the roadworks is very poor quality. It seems to be either too much tar and not enough chip to cover it or bucket loads of chip which hasn't been rolled. Do they still do that? maybe they've only got one sweeper.
It is total crap and this year is definitely the worst. I saw the biggest balls up yet on Rewa Street and this was sprinkled chip as a footpath. quality control is lacking.
The more complaints the more chance of action _ Ministerial maybe?
Life is to be enjoyed ... Bikes, women, beer and chocolate

Looked like a tractor sales yard did it
Anza workshop could be in cohoots with transit NZ
You go for it Al our roads have become shocking, makes me want to move southThey cant blame funding, our tax keeps going up Maybe its time for all NZ bikers to make a united stand, like block Auckland motorway to a crawl with our bikes in rush hour for a couple of days
Thatl get some attention
Have to agree with you Andrew, the only reason they get away with it is we dont complain loud and long enough
Maybe its time we let the country know how we feel
The main reason our roads suck is because all the old guys( as in the 40,50 and 60 year old pipe smoking guys) you used to see fixing the roads aint around anymore. Today its badly dressed former youth gang members on community service.
As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so life well used brings happy death
