Are you planning to attach the petition to the partition you plan on delivering?
Maybe you should also run a petition to stop the NZ$ falling against the US$, because the barrel price is quoted in greenbacks not NZ pecos, and that's what's causing our petrol prices to rise

You're an idiot if you believe that this will change anything.

    ummm - 2 things

Unfortuantely while your petition is well meaning - it is fundamentally flawed.

The NZ dollar has fallen under 50 US Cents - the currency that oil is traded in - and that has more to do than the petrol companies.

Who were you planning on partitioning - the government? The oil companies?

Finally - you may want to look at the signatures - looks like its getting smart ass replies already.

Hopefully you can edit them out before delivering it to whomever.

Ok I have been following the oil prices and the nz dollar versus us since august. The price of oil us has been converted to nz dollars at that days exchange rates. On the 1st aug 2008 oil us was $124.25 us.The exchange rate at that time was 1.3598 nz for us dollar. Which equates to 168.958 nz per barell. 91 was selling for $2.069 at that time. Now oil is us $40.22 per barell. nz exchange rate today 1.9673 which equals barell nz 79.12494 hmm that is half the price nz as it was on first august yet 91 is no where near half the price of 1st Aug. Its about 60c litre dearer. And yes have already deleted smart arse petition signer

    Petition. Sigh.

Why can't people get excited about issues that really matter to motorcyclists, such as ACC levies and cheesecutter barriers, rather than wasting their time over things that are beyond the legislative orbit of our elected officials. Sighs again.

No. But I am sick of whining fuckers who can't seem to grasp even the basics of economics. Also am I sick of naive socialists who think that online petitions are ever going to get anything done.

As long as there's more than 10 4x4s hauling power boats over the hill to Akaroa each weekend...
As long as the average number of occupants in cars during the morning commute is less than 2...
As long as a V8 dinosaur is considered a good investment...

As long as that remains the case fuel prices are not too high and I shall suffer no whiny complaint on the subject.

The price of crude oil is a component of the price of petrol. Consider refining costs, oil company profit and government tax components too.
