    Dear 600 rider...

Anyone else get this letter from MNZ?
Basically it says there will be enforcement of the no quick shifter rule. Which is fantastic, and I am all for it. However, why would you send a bulletin out about what they are going to enforce before enforcing it?
It is sorta like saying we are going to be checking cylinder heads for signs of skimming, so make sure your std head is back on.
It is stupid to give people who break the rules a heads up that certain things will be enforced.
What are peoples thoughts on this?

Well youd be pretty pissed if you were using quick shift and they didnt warn you. Turn up to a race meet and get disqualified... especially after the effort and travelling most people do to get to races...

Sounds fair enough to me. Better for people to not be breaking the rules instead of wasting time shooting those that do.

I was unaware it was already a rule. From the first post I was under the impressions that it was a new rule being enforced. my bad.

I understand where you are coming from with this post Maido, as all the riders in the sth Island were informed @ Ch Ch to clarify the Ruke RE No Quick shifters in this class or the SB class.

Perhaps the letter was intended as a follow up to the announcement to all but guarantee NO one is STILL cheating!

I do think it is a good thing to do, as MNZ nor the organising clubs have the time or the money to do full mechanical strips checks of all bikes, so if any one is wankerish enough to cheat with these parts still, they deserve a very hard kicking.

I see what you mean there, I forgot they mentioned it at the breifing, if it is meant as a follow up then kudos to MNZ for doing it.

I just took it as they are definately going to be checking so make sure there is nothing wrong so we have to disqualify you! Next week we will be checking batteries and charging systems.......lol

How come its taken 3 rounds for this to be noticed.
I have only attended rd3 but soon as i heard the first full power shift on "certain" bikes i knew they were being used.
(built and raced drag bikes for years in uk so know their sound AND ADVANTAGES)
approx 1/10 of a second over 4 gear changes on a 1/4 mile.......... so work that out over 15 laps!!!!!!!!!!

Do the culprits really need them to win

Letter from MNZ you say???? Nope. All I ever get back from MNZ is my license and their AGM report. The rest of the time I just send them money.
