    What would you do/expect?

A work mate took his bike 98 ZX9R for a WOF, failed on front tyre which we both knew was going to happen. Goes straight to Well known tyre place for a new one.
They can do straight a way, cool, wander around store looking at the vast range of gear.
Looks over to see tyre done, lowering down bike on lift, when all of a sudden bike does a flip on to its side smashes a few fairings clipon etc....and drops friends helmet to ground cracking visor.(never been dropped before)
Worker had left one tiedown on which caused said flip..

Shop is fixing all damage etc.. which you would expect, but would you want/expect any compensation for doing the damage, and an xtra $40 worth of gas to get to work, + getting to work late due to Heavy traffic on Waitangi day?..

I know accidents happen, but myself I'd be spitting tacks, I wouldn't want to pay for tyre and would want helmet to get checked out at the minimum.

    What about you guys..

I'd be happy that the bike shops paying for the damage they did .

The shop must put right all damages, including a new helmet.
On top of that I would be asking for reasonable costs, and hoping to get them.

I'd be happy with repairs too, though there would be no cheap fixes! As for helmet, where was it sitting at the time?

    hi nallac.
i would be aiming for some compensation on top of the obvious but would not ask for to much, just something extra to make it ok.

It would be nice if they offered some compensation for the inconvenience but people rarely will nowadays. I would certainly be asking.

We think about each other less and less in this bloody rat race. Common courtesy in a lot of cases seems to be something people find only in fairy stories. I guess that's where the fucked up American legal system came from. People just not giving a shit about their neighbour. It's the small stuff that counts. Thats why I like being a part of the motorcycling fraternity. For the most part motorcyclists are still pretty good to each other. Thats something we should all be pretty proud of.

    Long may it continue

Hey Adam, thats what i'm thinking maybe a little more , he has already bought rear tyre, indicators oil, filters + more from them, was planning on brake pads, fork seals and new boots from them..+ the new front that caused the problem....

I told him to ask them what sort of compesation are they offering first.

Hes happy they are fixing it ,which they should be.
But needs to ask for more.

Yip he paid an xtra $40 in gas to get to work, lost 3 hours time traveling to work and back,+ was 1/2 late due to traffic, not to mention not being abe to ride this weekend...

And his prideand joy was dropped.

    Shit - thats bad.

If it was my shop I'd be throwing the front tyre in for free, possibly offering a discount on the next set too! Pretty much whatever it takes to keep the guy happy so when he tells his woeful tale to other riders at least he will be able to say what a great shop it was fixing it up and helping out on future discounts.

our motto was always "if we fuck it up, we fix it up"

my concern would be the helmet.

If there's no cosmetic damage to the helmet, then there wouldn't be too much to worry about!
