For as long as I can remember, I have had a poster of the 916, beautiful bike, status helped by all the success in racing etc. Yet I wouldn't own one... not quite sure why, but I don't collect bikes, and will only have 1 or 2, so they have to tick all the boxes.

Wot e said... Yes, I have one, but for now, its definitely the bike that gives me the trouser feelings. Rather expensive... but owning your dream bikes is quite satisfying

Now, I also have to decide whether I'm going to take a race prepped KTM RC8 for a spin. Been offered, but its sorta like a black hole... you know you're going to be sucked in, and its not a good thing, but you sorta can't help yourself

TBF I'm not sure what I'd do with a 916 if I owned one- it'd scare the bejaysus out of me! Owning your dream bike must be pretty sweet, or, indeed, owning any bike.....

Our good friend has one of these. You do get over them, believe me, as he's looking to trade up this year. I'm quite definite he wouldn't give up his first-born for it either

Duc's have always had a hold over me, and we have one in our shed now so I get my permanent fix

Yamaha R1 (not the one with the stumpy exhaust though) couldn't get that so i got its smaller brother the R6 and in RED and yes it is so far my dream bike. Would like to try the Hayabusa one day.
I may be slow at getting things but..... no wait I'm just slow.

That's a lot of 'trouser feelings'.

You know how it is with the bike you wanted as a kid though- I guess I wouldn't really want to own one as it'd take the mystique away.....

Yes indeed! The bike he had before that was an 851 - now there's a bike that makes me really drool. Oh, the sound of it....

I've ridden my dream bike, both the original 1340cc version and the Twin Cam 88 (the later model was nicer, of course).

Oddly enough, it was everything I expected it to be, and I loved every moment of it. Aren't fulfilled dreams generally supposed to have more ambiguous and ironic results?
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.

One would at least expect it to not live up to the fevered imaginings of a callow youth. Anticipation seems to be the best part of longing fulfilled.

There's something wrong with me - I'm now in a position to test-ride almost any of my former dream bikes, yet I can't be bothered.
