    I tapped that!

    2009 race season RG50 prep

I tried on my engineers hat and tapped some threads onto my swingarm to fit it with grease NIPPLES...mmmm nipples...sorry where was I...these are to ensure the bushes are kept nice and lubricated. Unlike the ones we replaced which were hideously crusty and quite saggy and baggy.

    Was all quite exciting really

Had to drill holes in awkward places and then cut the threads all by my self. Thankfully I didn't cock it up and the swingarm is now where it rightfully should be all ready to go.

I also got to use the angle grinder - screws too long they kept interferring with the swingarm...NO MORE! Showery sparks of hotness everywhere - I do love power tools!!!!!

Also repainted the rear wheel - now it looks purdy and matches the front wheel.

Now just have to set up some tubing to run into the purdy silver catch bottle I mounted and my wee machine is ready

This year I want to get to grips with carrying more entry speed and of course get smoother at the clutch dragging thing to allow me to maintain more corner speed too...rock on the 22nd at Kaitoke I say

Thanks to my lovely man for teaching me everything and supervising me to be sure I don't wreck anything

NOW I just need to come up with a name for it...though Sully says it already has one and will probably spank me for renaming it - meh - I like his spankings anyway

Well it already has half my user name on it.

I'd actually gone for the moniker Conspeach (bling for anyone who can tell me what that is) but that only applied when it was my bike, it's now my lady's bike so she can call it anything she likes, as lond as she calls me when it's tapping time

I'm proud of you babe, you take this stuff on when I know you get nervous about it, that makes it all the more inspiring

I don't know, you girls go and get all excited about grinding and tapping and drilling and stuff ! But ya don't see us getting all goose bumpy bout changing nappies and planning the next weeks meals etc do ya ? Whats going on ? Anyone'd think ya been missin out or sommit !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Twas fun and quite satisfying to do this stuff...and this year I have to do all the work on it myself so by the end of the year my tinkering skills should be much improved

My reluctance and those 'faces' at times is just a reflection of my nerves about ruining things. You've put so much time and effort into that bike and I really did worry about stuffing it up beyond repair! Thanks for your patience and encouragement it means a lot that you believe in my abilities even more than I do...and the gentle and forceful pushing on your part helps me to step outside my comfort zone and take on things I wouldn't have ever considered I could do. Love you looooooooonnnnnnnnng time!

I agree completely. I am so pleased to have the nappy stuff out the way too as there wouldn't be much time for tapping and drilling and grinding.
