Im a fan of BIG tattoos on girls have a look here: www.inkedpinup.com for some ideas.

But I would go for hip, stretching onto one buttock and your thigh... it is a cool design and done right with the detail etc that should be stunning!

I'v got a tat of my own and wen i was choosing a place to put it, i realised that wen i'm a wrinkled old fart, the last thing i want is a drooping tattoo to go with my saggy boobs. Thus i decided to put it on my lower hip, low enuf that you can't see it in the ridiculously low cut pants/shorts they seem to sell these days. Get it done on the bone, it hurts less. As he got closer to my mound, it definatly go worse. (LOL, i bet the boys would b enjoying this). But geting it done in a private place also adds the bonus that you get to choose who you want to see your tattoo, making it more special.

But since it's your own design, you should definatly ask for suggestions from your artist. Because it's intricatly designed, there's only so small he can go if you want those designs to be seen. So just as and consider his suggestions. After all, you'l end up having to trust the man with the gun anywho.

    Co-pilot's advice is:

Somewhere that doesn't sag later in life.
Somewhere you can cover up or show off - depending.

Only speaking for myself here but, I got my first reasonable sized tat on my left shoulderblade. 19yrs later I am still convinced that is/was the best place for me.
    1. No sag issues
    2. Only low backed items or singlets show it off. So I still get to choose who sees it, and I can show it in public if I choose.
    3. Reasonably pain free site (worth considering if your not into pain)

Just my 2c worth but good luck and happy birthday for the end of the week.

I agree with Stirts ... i think it would look stunning there!
It would be very painful in that area but soooo worth it!!

Sholderblade is a good place I concurr.
My wife has a butterfly there, and she can cover it up at will, or show it off...

....and it gives me something to look at while we are doing things!!!

Above your bum (tramp stamp) or on your breasts should be out, lol stay AWAY from bone/thin skin if you can, fatty tissues are least painful.. Just my opinion here, but if you get it on your hips/pubic mound it should be fully covered by whatever you wear, else you'll get people staring constantly.. Shoulders, arm, hip all good places.

I got one on the back of my right shoulder, love it, t-shirt covers it fully, going to get another on my other shoulder, even bigger this time

Agreed, somewhere that won't get stretched/saggy (kids etc).. it's a beautiful pic! I like the base of the neck idea.. or a shoulder blade.

Here's a couple of piccys I liked, to give you some ideas

Enjoy your first tat, it's special.. & ps: they are addictive...

I'd have to increase the size of the image 10-fold otherwise it would just get lost amongst all that ... - I aint got no small butt!

Just interested as to your reasons for getting a tattoo? I think they are relevant and important in where you place the tattoo.

Are you getting it because you think it will make you sexier (visible some of the time)? Are you getting it cause it will make you more interesting (visible most of the time)? Are you getting it because it's a trend and everybody's doing it (ability to hide it 90% of the time when it becomes uncool or weathered)? Do you have kids that you are meant to be a role model to (ability to hide it all the time)? What level of professionalism is required in your line of work (ability to hide all or some of the time)?

There's a lot more to take into account.
