    Owen River or Okains Bay

Owen River tavern is a great spot and I bet there wouldnt be any one else there(there did use to be a rally there years ago not sure if they still do it.)
Okains Bay over on Banks Peninsula would be great to no cabins though so it would all be tents.

Mohikinui (Gentle Annie) is a good call. The lodge we kipped in (River View) has four bedrooms, two with two single beds and two with doubles. The couch in the lounge folds down, so there's ten in just one place. Next dorr is another lodge, more the back-packer style but it's fine, not sure how many it sleeps. Email the website for more info, great couple.

In River View lodge there's everything you need from knives, forks and plates to fridge/freezer, a wee stereo and even dunny paper. You just need food and beverages. Beach fires are all good, great supply of driftwood, fireplace in the lounge. Day trips could include Westport/Cape Foulwind (seal colony) and Karamea for banjo lessons. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore, a wee cave at the north end of the beach, bushwalks etc, great views from the top of the hill.

If you had the two buildings you'd annoy nobody.

Is there enough accom. for up to 50 or so??

Last KB get-together had about 45 or so there and there's a feeling this one could be bigger.

Here's the lodge, the backpackers is just visible to the extreme left. The view looks out over the river mouth and beach. There's no bbq though so if you take a back-up ute chuck one on.

Not sure how many the backpackers holds but if you get ten in the lodge, another couple of dozen in the b/p the rest could tent it or kip on the floors. There are tent sites just down the road and I think there's another lodge down there too. The place is fairly spread out but the RV lodge and the b/p would be my pick. Email is gntlanie@xtra.co.nz. Ellen usually checks the emails.

Yeah the Tautuku Lodge would be a great place for our rally - and the ride through the Catlins has to be up with the top Sth Island sealed road M'bike rides now.
Lots to see and do down there in an out-doorsey sort of way

As for you Shrek - I have photgraphic evidence here that you were again lurking around Belly Dancers - this time in the Dunedin Octagon

Pity I didn't see you Bruce, I saw the belly dancers there but Shrek snobbed me and didn't say hello.
Come and ride the Southern Roads with us.
