    OK, listen carefully.

    She drives a car right?

First, take one of her wheels away...

The Biker Gods broke the mold after Mrs H was made. She is indeed a rare and precious gem of the biker sisterhood. And she puts up with me, for good measure.

Sully and I have been into bikes the whole time we have been together. He was riding well before me and we got 'interested' in each other just before I started to learn. 10 years down the track he now has me racing buckets, attending track days, going to rally's and working in the garage along side him on our 'collection' of bikes.

Sometimes he disappears into the garage by himself for hours and other times I join him but there is a lot to be said for a shared interest such as bikes. Not only do I understand that it is a huge part of him but for us both working on and riding bikes is wonderful ME time that we also get to enjoy together.

I do feel sorry for some of my married friends who don't have a hobby that they can both really share together, any other hobbies are not quite the same as bikes...I am convinced of it.

My wife an I share nothing in common and I mean nothihng, well, other than the kids... and it is often commented on (chalk and cheese)... I get bike time if I want it, she gets girl time (not in the way that makes me feel all tingly either) and that's just the way life is... In my world opposites attract... She's been on the back of my old bike once, enjoyed it, but said she never wanted to go on again... I lover her and she's an idiot to love me, I guess that's just how we work...
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

I think its all a matter of compromise, the more compromise the less satisfaction either way. We both make compromises but not enough to aggrivate. (Well occasionally minor...) hence 25th has just gone by, Kids are gone and we still get along well.

I think if biking was my total sole interest there would be problems, same if painting was the sole focus in C's life, Yes you do need common ground and if biking was a sole interest then I agree that both would need the same interest in bikes.

My Wife was riding bikes for years before I meet her. She taught me to ride and we've never looked back.
And as Mr H says: she puts up with me. Another one-of-a-kind gem.

I know I have always been into bike, and so has phoenix so lucky for us it works.

But in saying that, phoenix loves mountain biking. I like my bike, go for a tootle around flat tracks, but there is no way in hell I am following him up some huge mountain! However I go to every bike race he is in, and listen to him ramble on about stuff I dont understand. I even have tried to get into marshalling at these races just so I have something to do.

I'm into rifles and it wasnt an uncommon occurance for Phoenix to sit at the range and watch me shoot. He tried it but it wasnt his thing.

I guess what I am saying is a relationship is two different people who probably share the same values, rather than the same hoibbies. I actually enjoy have things we do together but equally respect that each other has different hobbies and let them do it. We ride together, but also we ride with other riders seprately, and respect the fact that each other might just want to go out by themselves.

    RESPECT!

See, to me biking is more of a life style. It infiltrates most of your life. Wheres shooting, montainbiking, painting, music might not (or perhaps it does?)

Always remember once when I was in OZ and I ended up sitting with these surfies. We shared a smoke and suddenly it hit me: They are just like me just that they have the surfing and I have the biking!

May the bridges I burn light the way.
