not so, what happens if somones wof or rego expired a day before teh accident. or the other party was drunk. his insurance would be null and void - resulting back to what we have now - but you're paying more money.

basicly compulsary insurace has NO extra benifits for alot more cost.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Yet again we find ourselves paying for Labour's incompetence.

Trouble with compulsory insurance may be a sharp price hike.....
    Seems to do that overseas.....

Very cheap vehicle insurance here in NZ,
Very very cheap compared to Europe....
Cheaper to take full cover here then it is to take third party only over there.
So If it matters to you just take full cover here and all problems are solved.....
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

    ACC needs competition.

People should have a choice. I don't wanna fund people who just don't wanna get back into work with my rego and gas tax.

If you don't know the date your WOF, Rego or anything else expires you're a knob and shouldn't be on the freakin' road anyway.

If, and I say IF, the compulsory insurance operators rewarded safe drivers through no a claims bonus arrangement then I doubt things would be too horrendous. The trouble is; insurance companies are greedy so theory and practice are two different things.

Also my old man would save about $3000 a year if he didn't have to use ACC

Quite right. I wouldn't suggest for a minute that any ONE company should handle any compulsory insurance scheme, but if it were compulsory to have a minimum level of cover (like 3rd party for motor vehicles, a basic levy for a game of rugby, ski weekend or whatever) then those who don't play sport don't have to pay and those who don't crash all the time should get reduced premiums.

Getting the insurance industry to nut out a basic scheme for drivers/riders etc just for the motoring part of it could be helpful. I'm a firm believer in giving realistic tax breaks to those who have their own personal health insurance and the same should apply to those who have their own vehicle insurance.

The whole thing is a giant fuckup.

Does ACC allow for elective surgery?

Yes, but not just quite yet. Let National sort out the incompetence first, get some efficiency out of ACC, then open it up for competition.

You gotta remember that competition is after all... insurance companies. Lets try and manage the benchmark first eh?
