With regard to different/longer vs shorter races etc.
Back in oh, I think 2003/04 we tried to change things up buy running each meeting with a different format.
Over the previous 10 years or whatever, it was all more or less the same. 3 x 6 lap races on the short track with maybe a reverse track thrown in.
So for two years we tried 3 races, 2 races, one short and one long race, normal track, reverse track, long track, two days, Taupo.
But sooooooo many riders bitched and moaned about it. No, really they did. So the club was more or less forced to go back to the old status quo.
Last year and this we have had/will have long track, Taupo and two day meetings to bring in some variation. So far this seems to be working.
Too many ideas have been tried in the past and have not worked for a variety of reasons or have worked and are now incorporated (such as transponders and staggered grids, they nearly got scrapped too!!).
Keep coming up with ideas, but ask the riders who have been around a while if the idea is new or can actually work.
