    Gixer 2006

Gidday just got a 06 gixer1000 wondering about the front fork ,should I drop the forktubes 5-10-15 ml so she tips in a little better ? and will the rear spring be a bit lite for my nimble frame , pilot 105 kg med-fast ish rider !
    Any tips appreciated cheers Kurt.

You should up the rear spring rate FIRST. The bike is riding low in the rear because the spring is too light for you, that in turn alters the trail figure in the front to a lazy figure causing the slow steering that you are feeling. Altering the fork position will have a band aid effect but it is by no means the correct way to skin the cat. Spending the money on an appropriate spring will give you the steering response you want, a plusher ride and will save you burning up rear tyres too readily.

    Hey Kurt,
The stock spring rate on a K6 1000 shock is VERY low, just over 8kg/mm from memory. I weigh about 10kg less than you, and had a 9.5kg/mm spring on the Ohlins shock I had fitted to my 1000. Made a HUGE difference. I reckon it would be worth looking out for a second hand Ohlins for a K5/K6 1000, there are probably a few around. It would be money well spent.
I think the option is available to fit a heavier Racetech spring to your stock shock, Robert would be the man to contact about that.
Let us know how you get on
