That thing is not the successor, it's not even a PD bike.
Like the orange equivalent, it's a toy - it lacks the weather protection, range and carrying ability to be either a PD or an Adventure bike.

Notwithstanding that, it was only King of it's small class until the 950SE came out.

While I'm being uncharacteristically grumpy, whereas that thing is cool, it didn't start squat.

Modern Adventure and Dual Purpose bikes have their roots in the ISDT/ISDE and Scottish Six Day Trials bikes of yesteryear.

......there is an SE only because there was an HP2 first

Both mighty fun but different, and at the sub-zero end of the "wall of coolness".

Type words to appear on page, then select them, then click the Insert Link button, paste in url. The words become the visible part of the link.

Pet hate: link text being the url. Adventure/Dual Purpose Bikes is so much more useful than http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=67, and faster as the former was drag'n'drop whereas the latter required quite a few clicks.

With Firefox, you can single-click drag and drop hyperlinks [edit: and images!] without even selecting them, so you don't even have to cut'n'paste the text and the url anymore. And of course, while dragging you can hover on the tabs to change the active tab, just like hovering on an app on the taskbar to switch apps. So you can bring links from other windows in. Dunno if IE does this, it doesn't let you drag tabbed windows from one IE application to another, like FF does.

The first result googling 'cool dakar bike' images:

    Cheers,
    Colin

Thanks WW. I think we'll have to move away from the Dakar bikes as, like the Aussie thread in Adv rider, they can go on for years - each pic is better than the last...

Slight hijack again to test this
