Only got two of us going up at the moment... let me know.

No departure place set yet. If it goes ahead I was thinking 8:30 ish kick off from Ashhurst via Halcome Turakina Valley, loop on to Fordell to Whangas and meet them. Hell, if it dosn't eventuate we can do our own thing anyway.

Only fields track cause it can't be described as a road really. I felt so proud when I didn't throw the bike down the bank at the piccy stops either.

My understanding is that Fields Track is now sealed, but not a race track.
I'd be interested in a rating out of 10 for Road Bikes.

It's called the goat track for a reason. Just be carefull of the 2m deep pot holes, live stock, and mad cocky or two. Well worth doing. Sealed right through.

actually, when we came through there last weekend there were VERY HEAVY road works on the north end of fields track. We were going to come back that way but the road works were bad enough it turned us around. An oncoming car indicated the road works were about 2km long

Was one of the last bits of a GC one year. Last checkpoint was on Para's side and then onto National Park & Turangi. Need to be awake for it for sure...

Inland Gissy route is similar except for more stock of every imaginable variety...

It's been sealed for quite some time, but its rough and narrow and always seems to have roadworks on it! Today was no exception, and as there's bugger all traffic the pea grit stays around.

Rating. Most bikes could handle it easily, most riders, well............

Parapara's are good. Big slips and works today tho! Sure am, need a new tyre tho, not sure if I'll have one by then seeing as I'll be so far away.

It's a wonderful slice of back country newzeeld. I turned back because of a maverick cattle beast attacking vehicles today

I had no inclination to be stampeded to death today. I had visions of trying to explain THAT to the insurance company, who must surely be getting sick of me by now.
