    Harley announces new chief

Harley-Davidson has announced Keith Wandell as its new Chief Executive Officer. Wandell, 59, joins the motorcycle maker from Johnson Controls Inc – an automotive products specialist.

Wandell takes over at a time when H-Ds profit has fallen by 58% and is looking to close factories and cut jobs to reduce expense.

Other appointments have been announced; Matthew Levatich, 44, is named as president and chief operating officer. He currently holds this role at MV Agusta, which was acquired by Harley in August 2009. In addition, James McCaslin was named executive vice president for corporate product planning and Enrico D’Onofrio as a managing director.
